engine troubleshoot help

ok well long story short..... i cracked the #1 piston and possibly lifted the stock headstuds and blew the gasket

anyways finally after a week or so got the new bearings eagle rods ross pistons machined all in and good new valves...

anyways everything was finally put together and i started it after a bit it started to blow some white smoke nothing 2 huge but enough that something was up....

when it all went down i lost a lot of oil and coolant and burned a ton of it up and smoked from the exhaust so i know it was full of crap.

so either the car needs to burn off all the crap in thier... or....
turbo is peiced...
or headgasket didnt get put in correct....
or crack in the block in a water jacket....

had the head machined and tested for crackes etc so head checked out good.... wondering if anyone has experienced this or not currently i let it warm to good temps and its chillin to retorque the studs maybe that will settle the gasket?

Thanks for any help!!!

Headgasket or water jacket is leaking along with the head.
Do a compression and leak down test.

How did you break it in, like how long at what boost level.

Who installed the head gasket? Did they touch the gasket with fingers or gloves? Did you put in new headstuds? What did they get tourqued to, ( did you re-tourque them after a few heat cycles) ?Also is the gasket a stock one or a cometic gasket? Did the lines to the turbo get checked after the install?

Run it down the street at no or low boost, park in the drive way with cardboard under it so you can see where it may be leaking from if it is not the head/water jacket while it is idling .

What finish was done on the gasket? was it cleaned (block deck) and checked for warpage? Any little dirt speck can possibly make the head gasket leak. ie like oily hand or the bolck was dirty ect. Both need to be super clean otherwise it may cause a leak.

What does your temp gage say?

i installed it and no it wasnt gooberd by hands..... i installed arp head studs all new torqued correctly as per every big engine builder here. torqued to 85 and heat cycled..

Stock head gasket all lines are connected and good no leaks.... only thing i havent checked is a block oil return from the turbo possible read somewhere on the boards someone had that problem.....

no leaks are coming from anywhere to the ground...

gasket was copper sprayed head was resurfaced and checked for cracks etc block was just cleaned and checked with a straight edge ect.

You may have a faulty head gasket...

compression test may or may not tell you anything. Leakdown test would be better. Neither will diagnose a bad turbo on anything similar. Leakdown test may or may not be able to find a tiny crack or leak. Have you visibly lost any coolant? Maybe you are still cleaning out your exhaust?

Easiest/best way to check for a leak from a headgasket or cracked head might be to bring it to a radiator shop, or general repair shop, and see if they can sniff out any combustion gases mixing in the coolant while running. They can place their exhaust gas analyzer over the radiator neck with the cap off with engine running. Good luck.

i really do think its burning stuff off and since i basically completly built the motor with all new stuff from what i hear new things are breaking in seating etc....

i have only put 9 miles on the car cause im a sissy and scared hahaha but it drove perfect and sounded great so im gonna go home tonight check a few more things and put a few one it.

also the smoke has greatly decreased since the first day so i doubt its a crack cause that wouldnt go down over time i assume so i think its burning off or possible bad gasket

white smoke is definatly water, u could messed up putting the headgasket back on. unless somehitn u did raelly affected the turbo i wouldnt think turbo unless u were getting oil burn.

yeah i dont think the turbo either all i did to the turbo was check the veins for problems and it was all 100% fine.... other then that never had an issue with the turbo only 28K on the car...

im 99% sure its either messed up gasket which isnt a huge deal or burn off.

only issue is if it is the gasket i dont know y it wouldnt be sealing i thought everything was done correct...
