My new IX MPFab Front Mount - PICS

Because I am lazy I paid a shop to fabricate the tanks for my new front mount intercooler. I saw pics of the FMIC that MPFAB had done for his VIII and decided I wanted one for my IX. I took a 3.5hr trip to Birmingham and fabricated the tanks and modified the IC pipes in a day. The core is the Garrett GT 24"x12"x3.5". It required no cutting to make it fit and the bumper and under tray fit like stock. I was impressed with the work, but I have to say that I thought MPFAB stood for Morgan Performance Fabrication, but Walker told me that Fab stood for Fabulous.
Just Kidding

MORGAN from z31.com, welded the intercooler for you? Looks pretty good, are you still using the stock turbo?

James, I remember meeting you several years ago, when you came down to Austin,Tx. When, you still had the yellow Z turbo. Supposedly Brent Nix was going to build the motor for you. Its pretty amazing that you are into the Evo's and Z cars.

No. This is the work of Walker Morgan in Birmingham, AL. Has to be one of the best welder/fabricator I have ever seen.

DO you mind if I ask how much? I'm close to Birmingham and wouldnt mind having him weld a larger IC for my IX track car.

With all the fabrication, why are you still using worm drive clamps and not t-bolts?

I am not sure what the fabrication has to do with the clamps. They are not standard cheapo clamps. These are the heavy duty versions so you cannot tear them up trying to go too tight. The t-bolts provide no additional peformance advantage for this application when the tube ends have been beaded. I typically don't like them for smaller diameters as they tend to gap at the overlap. 2.5" and above is typically fine, but these clamps will crush the tube before they would fail.

eff worm clamps AND t-bolt clamps in their effing asses!

If you are getting it custom fabricated, Adel Wiggins is where it's at! Only about an extra $600-900 for JUST THE CLAMPS depending on how many you use, but hey, it's only money right?
