Strange boost leak

Here's my problem:

The car holds 1.5bar no problem until 5000rpm. At that point, I can hear an obvious leak somewhere. It's strange because if I start in 6th gear at 40mph, it will hold the 1.5bar all the way until 5000rpm, then it suddenly starts to leak and won't hold any more than .6bar. The car IS NOT lurching or anything that would indicate a major boost leak after the MAF sensor. I tried it at all pressure levels between .78bar and 1.5bar. Does the same thing regardless and only above 5000rpm. I checked all the fittings on the uicp and the bov. I haven't checked the licp connections yet. I'll be checking everything again tomorrow, but if its not the IC connections then what could it be? I'm thinking that the BOV isn't holding the pressure, causing it to recirculate, hence the non-lurching. Any ideas?

There are lots of places that you could have a leak, the only way to really tell where it is coming from, is to do a boost leak test.

If I had a major leak after the MAF sensor, the the car would shake and lurch and run like ****. When this happens, the boost holds steady for however long it takes to get to 5k rpm then it just drops to .6bar. The car doesn't act like a boost leak, it just doesn't accelerate as fast. I can hear an air noise, though. I'm pretty sure its the spring in the BOV, so I'll pull that out later today and check it out.

Do you still have the stock air box in?

If so make sure that you have not damaged the clips that hold the snorkle down.

Otherwise you will suck it up against the hood and it will choke the turbo for air and it will sound like a leak. Also you feel like you lose all kinds of power.

If that is not it then I would begin to be doing a boost leak test on all the lines.

Bingo! Damn, I did't even think of that. I broke the last clip the day before. Thank you very much.

No prob.

I and many others have done the same thing.

Now get two clips out of the trunk and put them on the snorkle and boost to redline again.

Fixed and fixed. That would never have crossed my mind and would have driven me nuts. Thanks a lot.
