different boost at different gear?!

Hey guys,

I've noticed today that I've been boosting less than I have before. My Evo 5 RS has been boosting in the 19s before until last week. Now it's more like I'd hit that 19 target, then drop til around 16psi. I have found no leaks, the bov has none too, and one can't say it's the wastegate since at 4th gear and 5th, I boost more than 19 and hold it if I wanted to. Any clue on what's going on?

you should hold more boost in higher gears....what gear were you in when you were hitting 19 before?

Mine does the same thing. If I set it to 21 in 4th gear, it will only be like 19 or so in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Plus it drops off like you were saying.

mine's exactly like yours PA... e-slow no, its still wicked hot! Zip, I used to hit 19s from first gear... now only around 16-18 and still more than 21 if I wanted in 4th and 5th... man this is weird!!!! Could it be that the cams made this so? I installed HKS 264/272 like a month ago... but then maybe I just noticed this now... i hate this!

Less engine load in the lower gears = less energy for making boost.
