I was just looking through the FSM yesterday that I downloaded. The schedule is to replace all the fluids (tranny, x-case, rear diff) at 30k miles for normal driving, 15k for 'severe' driving.

I've come to find out that with these cars, there is no set standard for any one thing. Makes it kind of hard because I think Im trying to be to much of a perfectionist. I will probably end up running OEM fluids this time (only have till sunday to get the fluids), do more research and figure out for sure what to go with next time.

I appreciate all the input guys... I'll keep doin my homework.

Actually, I'm going to have to disagree with the bg2 in the tranny. I found that it has made my car shift WORSE. It feels like it is no longer "sliding" into gear and sometimes sticks in gear when going to neutral. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, for those using OEM fluid in the transmission, where are you buying it from? My dealer says that they use a 5 gallon drum. He was willing to sell it to me in smaller quantities but I am not sure I trust them as he said they use the same fluid in the tranny, t/c and diff.

Thanks.

question, i was told i could you royal purple in the differential, but, i think he told me i had to add a different kind of lubricate...anyone know what i am talking about? btw, is there actually a front and REAR dif, or do the ACD incorporate the front dif, along with the acd? also, if i want tgo change out my fluids with royal purple, which units would allow 75w90 from royal purple and how much does each require? i heard the amount was small but cant remember.

FWIW I've been using Redline MT90 (2qts) and Redline 75w90 NS (1 qt). It was an accident on the last quart and figured screw it if I dont like the feel I will change it out. I'm on the same fill with it @ 20k miles and probably will stick with it on the next fill, and will refill using the same unless I try amsoil's MTG. It smoothed out my second gear, and pretty much shifting in all gears.

As far as the folks saying get something that exceeds the GL-4...take that as a grain. I would recommend sticking with GL-4 lubricants in the tranny (5MT). I use the stock fluids for transfercase and rear diff.

+1 Except I use 1 qt of MTL90.

If that's not available I fill the tranny with Mitsui 90W OEM GL4.

The important specification is GL4 ^GL4^GL4.

I used rp 75w90 in trans straight 90w in transfer case and rear diff, shifts smooth but would not run this at the track. John shep uses redline only in trans etc. Will probably go to redline in transfer case. MR trans are weak, and the only real fix is some kind of cooler.

MR take 2.3 qt in the tranny, .7 qt in transfer & .7 in the rear diff roughly.
