Do it, it don't matter if you don't get the trans built... My saying is why replace or repair it if it ain't broke

Do it! What's there to lose.. A built t-case is better than a broken t-case

Damn man, Id rather buy a used $300 turbo than a $2500 transfer case. If its really whining, it may not last that long so Id take it off and send it to Shep before you have to spend mucho dolares on a new one. Ive never heard of an 05 whining... weird. That seemed to be a 2003 and some 04 problem.

Every evo that I have driven or ridden in would whine in first and second gear UNLESS they had a shep rebuild on the t-case because he reshims them differently than the factory does so they can handle more abuse. A fourth and fifth gear whine I would consider a problem though....Neither of my evos ever whined in those high gears....interesting.

I know it is expensive but you should do both in the future. I have the shep trans and soooo much better than it was. I havent done the tranfer yet and hopefully i wont for a while. Just have someone look at it or drive it to get a few opinions.

Actually I think it is because they change out the mesh gears to stronger ones or gear.

Well the problem with that mentality is that when it does break, it will cost an extra 2grand or so.... I believe a good one is needed for the price listed on the site.

Also I heard nobody has blown an 05 T-case. I posted it a thread to see if someone has, but it never got any response.
