hi guys
im about to buy a manual boost controller
ive seen turbo xs for 130 or hallman for 170.
do you guys think is a good idea?
should i spend twice as much for an electronic boost controller?
somebody who installed one of those please let me know how what you think about it

my 2 cents....
I have yet to see a test where a manual boost controller performs as well as one of several boost controllers. SCC did a test a while back the the Blitz SBCID & GReddy Profec-B were the two standouts.
Manaul boost controlers are more prone to spike, and generally don't spool up as fast.
Everything I have read has convinced me to spend the extra bucks... but, I am far from an expert on this subjuect matter...

Remember what you are doing, forcing the engine to operate at a specific booste level. This in fact hurts the overall efficiency of the turbo because efficiency changes as RPM and boost change. If I were you, I would go with a electronic boost controller and set it to taper off at higher RPM. I would set it to 21 or 22 as a high point (with engine management of course) and taper it off to 19 or so at redline. A manual boost controller forces you to give up higher boost at lower RPM and run higher boost at higher RPM. Besides most boost ocntrollers have boost gauges as well, so in the end by the time you get everything set up for a manual boost controller you will be spending 300 or so with gauges. I think it just makes a lot more sense to get an electronic boost controller.
