zx6r - Yep - will sure photo doc the move. I will also check with my local mitsu tech (he seems nice enough) to see how they are are getting the inputs for the guages.

Thuan - did you use an aftermarket din harness for the stereo or do mitsu supply one. Where did you get it from and how much did it cost?

BTW, yes I agree the mounting cup brackets are butt ugly... those will probably be replaced with much better ones.... later.

Netmand, do you have pics available of your guages at night? You said they match the factory gauges at night and I think they look nice so I'm considering using this boost gauge. Thanks.

Awesome response guys, I havent had a chance to read the forum for a few days b/c of finals.

NETMAND: excellent install and pics!

THUAN: very cool as well, can't wait to see how the carbon fiber looks. Question: With your radio down there is it hard to switch cd's while you're driving?

Also, I went to the dealer today and saw the factory gauges in person, they look better than what shows by the pictures I've seen. Do you think you could switch them to the top position easily? or would you need longer wires/tubes?

I still want a boost gauge on my steering column, I just think the small factory gauge is too far away to look at regularly. Thuan yours seems a little more noticeable...

One more question, how do you remove the factory radio, do you just pull off that plastic piece around it?

I'm having a really hard time getting pics at night... will probably post at least the fuzzy ones to give you all an idea. Hang tight, I'll get it done this week!

ok I've got a night pic up on the gauges (scroll to the bottom of the page)

http://www.collectracecars.com/evo/mechgaugeinstall.htm

More pics to come, when the page is complete I'll post a thread in the How-to forum.

Thanks for the pics Netmand!
Just thought I'd point out that when you click on the bottom two pictures before the one at night, the wrong enlarged images come up.

Also, I will be making up a site for my EVO mods too (when I get my EVO), so excellent work, everyone should do this!

Okay, I moved my factory sports meter kit to the top, and now I can see the guages! Hoorah. This is what it looks like. I have also got step-by-step photos and the Mitsu tech docs for the Sport Meter Kit if anyone is interested.

Gauge

Just an idea. I put mine in the fold down pocket on the left side bottom portion of the dash. Very stealth. When I want to watch or adjust the boost, fold it open. When I want to race or park it somewhere, fold it shut. I love it. It is perfect too, can see it perfect through the bottom left hole in the steering wheel. Not as nice as having it in fromt of your face, but I don't people to know that it's maybe not stock, ya know?? I think I could even take it to the dealer and they wouldn't ever think to look in there or think it's modded at all.

Just an idea.
