stock BOV fluttering/ motor stuttering?

Recently, my stock bov's been sort of fluttering and causing my whole motor to stutter. I think it's odd. The only time i've ever seen my car do that was when I had a GFB bov for those 3 days I had it on my car (those with a GFB stealth bov will know what i'm talking about). It only occurs when I boost (for example 15 psi) on the freeway, and then let off the gas part way and let the boost drop to like 10psi or 5 psi, whatever. It'll cause my whole motor to shake and stutter and my bov flutters... What's the cause of this? I'm on the stock bov... Only mods are TBE, drop in, and flash.

btw: at first, I thought my bov had a leak, so I took it off and put it back on and made everything was tight. But it still does it.

Are you sure it is your BOV? It could be a boost leak else where. I would conduct a boost leak test. You can make your own tool from PVC pipe. It is really easy. Also your BOV spring could just be a lemon. Check for any debris etc.

Would I still be able to hit full boost like normal if I had a boost leak? Because I'm hitting 23 psi just fine.

hmmm. If it were a minor leak then yes. Bu I doubt that is the problem then. I would say possible spring failure. Replace it if you can afford it with a tial BOV. It's teh way to go anyway.

^^^ I concur. Yeah the BOV must be on Bacwards. Getting pushed bac shut by the boost the pulled by the Vaccum. If not its time For a Forge BOV. But also Check Just some Stuff look For Droken Vaccum lines and Loose Clamps. Just to See if you can find something. Tell Us the Fix when you find it, seem to be stumped here if its not the BOV on Backwards. so i am Keeping My chips with elhalisf.

side port goes to intake and bottom port goes to UICP. The BOV will sit angled if its in properly and your running the stock intake box

mine used to do the same thing you are describing and I never touched it (prior to the problem) I installed an APS unit and the problem went away.

Mine does the same thing. I've been told by many that its due to the new much stronger BOV in the IX. Back in my Mustang days the high end BOVs also resulted in the same situation.

Are you using an MBC? If so, disassemble it and check/clean it as well - especially if it's a Forge.

I've had the exact opposite happen.

I used to have a TurboSmart BOV, but now I have the Evo IX BOV and have no flutter/stutter whatsoever.

I should have used this BOV from the beginning.

I doubt its the MBC. I have a BR Cone on my rig so I can hear the BOV... and I can hear the BOV flutter at the same time the stutter occurs.

Mind you, at least in my case, this is pretty rare anyway and doesn't really bother me much at all. Only really happens in partial throttle situations. Its almost like the system thinks we are about to go to town, when in fact we are letting off the gas a bit in stop and go traffic.

I'm 100% sure my bov is not on backwards. I have the bottom of the bov to the IC pipe and the side of the BOV to the intake.

I just finished reading the posts.. I dont have a MBC. My boost is controller through that pill that Vishnu puts in the lines to raise the boost to 23 psi. I'm stumped... I've never heard of a stock IX bov breaking before? Strangely, it only recently started happening after my clutch job, but I doubt that has anything to do with it, because those things are'nt even touched to do a clutch. Is there a way to test if it's a bov for sure? I dont wanna spend that much money on an aftermarket bov if my stock one is'nt really broken.
