Clutch install question.

Guys quick question. I had work needed to be done on my block so I ended up taking off the transmission. And I put in new STOCK CLUTCH, but have 1 question...

I put the transmission back on and did all the approporiate changes and slided it in and all bolted back to the engine.

The logic in me says that clutch fork needs to be pressed towards the passenger side. So, to the left side when I"m looking at it, as I think slave cylinder would "PUSH" the clutch fork... BUT i see that i can't push it towards the passenger side at ALL, but it moves to the RIGHT (driver side). So it's like it needs to be PULLED by the slave cylinder.. but logically that's not possible!

Do i need to pull the transmission out again? or does it automatically become normal after connecting everything up on the engine? I noticed the clutch fork natually goes to the passenger (left) side because of a spring...

I have a feeling something's not right here! Help?

Ok guys, here's some picture, this is what i'm talking about:

Pic1, The TOB is set to far to driverside at first. :

Pic2, View from Clutch Fork :

Pic3, I push the clutch fork far right to the driver side. It makes a "Click" and catches on the little ring :

Pic4, I let go of the fork after the click, Than the fork goes to the middle of the clutch fork hole:

Pic5, I can push the fork to the right (driverside) and it goes there, but when i let go, the fork goes back to the center.

It's very Springy, I can't push the fork to the Passengerside at all, it automatically centers again when pushed to the driver side.

Is it supposed to be like that? I'm not sure, but i think it's supposed to be the opposit?

some clutches have a different engagement method, either push or pull type clutch. the exedy may be the opposite of the stock in which case you will have to change the clutch slave cylinder somehow.

Acutally, I'm sorry, I meant it's stock clutch (for now). So w/ stock clutch this i assume is normal.

dont you have the manual for the car? I am pretty sure this is normal. You push to the drivers side and it pushes in an the TOB. You release it and it pushes back towards the passenger side. I think the manual calls this positions A & B. Go to the evomoto web site and look at their install guide.

pound the fork to the drivers side to get the bearing to snap into the pressure plate. this is normal. all clutches need a little help to snap the bearing in. give it a shot and let me know. iv done it a ton of times

Bump

Thanks for the reply. There seems to be nothing that can be "catched" onto, The wedge is already snapped into, but there's more? is it safe to pry bar the thing more to driver side? I don't think it can go anymore... i'm afraid it'll break something.

Basically it needs to be snapped into something to force to clutch fork's natural position is sitting to the right? thus making it able to push to the passengerside (left), and it'll come back to the driver side (right).

Right now, it's the exact oposite of the above, natural position is Center, and i can push to the driverside (right), but when i let go it goes back to center. I can't push it at all to passengerside (left) from the center.

there shouild be two tangs on the TOB. The clutch fork needs to engage around those right..I need to see it again to refresh my memory. But pushing the fork towards the drivers side all the way engages it...just like finallyevo said

hmm, yeah, i'd love to do that :/ but right now, everything is being done "out of the car", basicaly after bolting this up, i'm gonna try it out, but wanted to make sure if the symtoms that i ran into sounds correct... maybe the only way to find out is to put everything back in the car and hope it works.

Logically, it dosn't make sense to me that it pushes oposit direction.. and i would think clutch "pushes" the fork to the passengerside.

I just tried pry baring in either direction, if i pry bar to the driver side, it just stops after TOB pushes the Wedge collar, and if i let go, goes back to center. and when i pry the fork To the passengerside, its just dosn't budge, feels almost like its gonna break the fork..
