POLL: Transmission Rebuilt yet?
not really, most ppl having problems are those doing excessive driving/ racing, not under normal driving circumstances, so causing their trannies to break.
notice that this thread is about 5 days old, and only these few reported and i bet most of them did certain level of road racing / abuse.
to that purpose, you will need a stronger tranny anyway down the road. it's not too expense if you compare it to other power mods, and i think it is worth it.

I noticed the tranny had a strange 2nd gear from the day I bought it brand new, and the dealership said Drive it itsnormal it will go away with time. So at 16k miles and finding that it was grinding I said screw this i want a new tranny. I come from the DSM world so Im aware of mitsu's trannys, but I figured you know if im going to spend over 30 k on a car thats 16 years older than my dsm I would think that it would have a butter tranny. I will agree with you though most people who have rebuilds beat the **** out of their cars.
I have 38,000 miles on my 2005 ssl and my tranny is butter....I am not afraid to thrash the car around town and it is my only car and sees the drag strip regulalry running high elevens with wot shifting....ACT 2900 clutch with street disc and Prostreet 10.5 flywheel with 18,000 miles...stock clutch lines with restrictor pill and GM Synchromesh in the tranny...My only complaint is that the fugger doesn't like to go into gear when first cranked up for the day until it is at full operating temp....this is fine by me though...I have always waited for ANY car to warm up before I take off unless there is an emergency.
At my first tranny rebuild, the car had been to the track once previously, for a total of 3 runs on the stock clutch. Trans broke 3 months later with only 4k miles on it and was supposedly just synchros.
On my second tranny rebuild, the car had not been at the track since the first repair and again I was told it was the synchros, but I had been "abusive" so they wouldn't repair it under warranty. 8k miles and a $1,600 repair bill.
My last tranny rebuild the car had been at the track twice since the second repair, for a total of 7 runs on a Cusco twin plate. The diff broke at the track, but that was because I didn't use Diaqueen when I installed the Cusco. I was getting a grind going into 5th long before it broke, so I sent the whole trans and transfer case to Shep and he fixed it all up.
I do not rag on my car and rarely street race from a dig because no one wants to race an Evo out of the hole. ;-)

I just lost 3rd and 4th gear for the third time in a year. The tranny has already been rebuilt under warranty 3 times (once before I owned it at 15k). I'm not even going to try and fight mitsu to repair it. I'll give Shep a try. I'm over this weak ****. The car has 50k on it now.
Evo IX with 2,300 miles here. Second gear feels notchy as well, third is getting there as well. Warranty replaced 2nd gear synchro after 2k miles. Went back 200 miles and got TC and driveshaft replaced.
03 58k miles with no rebuild... yet... I have the 4th to 5th syncro issues and my tcase is starting make a decent amount of noise (1st gear decel) but the tranny has taken alot of abuse both on the street and at the strip.
The shep downtime isn't bad. Although I waitied about 3 weeks for mine to get done I had it rebuilt in the middle of the race season so it's going to take a bit longer.
I lost my 4th gear at the 1000' on the track and on the way home it took out 1st and 2nd. Since the tranny was going out I did the t-case as well and put in the LSD, no complaints so far still shifts like butter 8k miles later.
