Should i Heat Wrap my...

hey guys...

just wondering what you guys think...
should i heat wrap my exhaust manifold or keep it exposed...
the installer suggested i heat wrap it to help prevent damage to other parts under the hood??

A friend of mine on this board had his exhaust mani heatwrapped, and it ended up cracking since it holds the water alot longer in the wrap, and doesn't evaporate as fast as it should once water gets in there. With our open vents on our hoods, water gets in there mighty easily when it rains or car gets washed, or whatever.

So now that he got another manifold (replaced under warranty), he leaves his exposed.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Do not heat wrap it. It will cause the metal to decompose and crack. If you are worried - get it coated.

jqturbo is right about moisture getting between the wrap and the manifold and causing problems. Best bet if you really want noticable difference is to have it thermal coated.
