Brutal oil leak...bad

I've had an oil leak for a few thousand miles now, thought it may have been my valve cover gasket since i replaced the cams. But it is not. Today, i looked behind the timing belt cover and there is a plug, almost like a freeze plug with a decent amount of oil sitting on it. Im thinking it may be leaking from there as there is oil on the backside of the intake cam gear, and it seems it has been throwing oil all over the engine compartment on the firewall, and on the side by the cam gears a bit. Anyone else experience this? I have never touched the head studs, ive never run over 22 psi either. I dont believe it is a head gasket as the oil is not watery, and the coolant isnt milky. Any ideas?
I have a pic, however it is 206kb, too large to upload here and my putfile account is acting goofy, not letting me upload any pics. Thanks in advance.

I will probably do that too, however when i had the valve cover off, there was no oil on the backside of the cam seals, or the caps that cover the cam seals.

sound like what happened to a buddy of mines bone stock 04. He had a leak and they finally discovered that it was from somewhere behind the cam cover. They said it was because the car had been sitting for about a year though, i believe...

Nothings wrong with them but somtimes the 1 in 1 out method creates a leak. Some recommend taking the head off the car to do them right

Im gonna look again at the cam seals, although the side towards the cam gears were dry. Hopefully its the PCV valve or something minor...I dont see how it could be the head gasket in only 40k miles.

I have a yet to be found leak back where I think you are describing. I have blown the dipstick out a few times. That is when it started. But,I avn't found the source unless it is just the dipstick blowing out oil. Please post your findings. I'll see if mine matches yours and maybe we would have found a common problem.

Ok, so upon further inspection of my block, it seems i have oil all over the front of the motor under the head, running down under the block. Its a huge mess. I dont know how this happened at only 41k miles. Im pretty pissed. Anyone ever replace a head gasket? I cannot find a tutorial anywhere on evom, or the net for that matter. Wondering how hard it is. I've done cams, and head gaskets on other vehicles, evo seems not too bad. Any pointers? thanks!

i would degrease the engine & then let it run, so you can try & pinpoint the leak. i'd say valve cover installed wrong or bad oil cap gasket. is your valve cover filled with oil ?

definately degrease the engine as a starting point. Be careful with that plug on the block (allen key one you mentioned) I have heard of stories where it leaked and someone tried to seal the threads up with silcone when they reinstalled the plug. The silcone hardened inside an oil galley (from too much being used) and caused some oil starvation issues.

Your turbo oil supply line is right there on the front of the head too. Make sure that is not your problem.
