Defnitely. There are guys using 42R on 2.0 but youre going toh ave to really rev it out to take full advantage, and race gas is a must. If youre going to run pump the best turbo is 37R hands down. Its spool is damn good for its size and it seems to be effiicient even at lower boost levels. 42R has to be at 36+psi to make any power.

Exactly, I fully agree and it's the reason behind my current build process...

Although I agree with you, Greddy turbos are Mitsubishi based units, so in saying they suck, you are also saying your stock turbo, and moreover your Mitsubishi powered car, also sucks.

The Greddy T-88 spool and power production will be comparable to a GT4294 (the small 42) but I would think it would spool a tid bit quicker due to the smaller turbine wheel and housing, but for the price and performance I would get a standard bearing GT4202.

Did you mean this 37r, or the re-badged 67r that everyone has been incorrectly calling a 37r?

Also, I don’t want to start any argument, but I made 708whp@31psi with small cams and a stock head with the GT42 (non BB)

Yes I mean the 67R (or commonly known around here for some reason as the 37R). Thats a great number but this guy is talking about running straight pump gas (93) with the turbo.. thats why I said the GT42 is NOT what hes looking for, and go to with a great pump turbo like the T67 or 37R.

With the overuse of Meth injection, any turbo is a good "pump gas" turbo these days.

Haha I gotcha on that one. Yeah when I say "pump gas" I mean 91-93 octane. I think its a bit misleading to say that you ran xx on pump gas or something of that sort when in fact you used meth injection. The use of pump+meth is much more closely equivalent to using race gas than pump gas.

Over here in Japan a shop called Cruise that is located on the most nothern party of the country called Hokkaido loves to use T88's and T78's on their drag cars.

Their F-CON V controlled Evolution II demo car sported a T88 34D 18cm and produced a somewhat low 620ps from 1.8bar of boost. It was a strictly a straightline performer and they also produced a 600hp+ T78 setup for a customer's EVO III. Their setups for the twisties use TD06-25G or T67-25G turbos. They only use Mitsubishi turbos on demo cars and for hardcore Mitsu lovers. They prefer GT 3040/3240/3540 or Apex RX6 turbos because they can create setups that produce more hp under the curve with liner power plots. The T78/88 setups are usually very peaky with an extremely narrow powerband.

T88h

We run that on our 2g FWD it's laggier than a 42 by about 500RPM but make great power.

i think Norris Designs built an EVO6 with this T88 that went over 200mph.

i had contemplated a T78 with a stroker for a top speed car but now i'm looking for more balance & may go with a stroker + either a GReddy TD06SL 25G w/14cm hotside or HKS's T04Z 63T A/R 0.61 for decent spool but massive topend power that is USEABLE...
