EVO longblock weakness???

OK guys Im prolly gonna be joining the EVO master race here soon. I will be buying an EVO for my daily driver. My question is what is the weak point of the long block. What will I have to replace to get over 550whp. So far I am thinking I want to just do bolt ons and see where that gets me. What are some of the higher HP stock longblock guys running for turbos?

I'm guessing you're coming from the mr2 world? I had an 93 MR2 turbo before the Evo. It was mostly stock though with a few boltons. The evo block is pretty stout. I have made over 550whp on my stock bottom end with upgraded cams, etc. I wouldn't push it much more than that though. Good luck. Evo is a fun car, but the tranny could be better.

Maybe, but any car will break if you beat it all the time. I have an extra shortblock around if I ever need it.

Nothing special. Just a little Full-Race setup with a t3/t4 innovative turbo. Nothing special at all. Are you keeping your Mr2? I miss mine everyday, especially during the warm days, lol.

Dont think 850's will push enough fuel to a 40R, may want to think about 1000 or 1200cc.

I dont plan on maxing out the 40r. I was just hopig to be able to run low boost making close to 500whp on pump gas.

Sounds like a nice setup. A built 2 liter capable of revving to 9k or 9.5k would be nice too.

I hear ya. A lot of people overdo their setups just to achieve this when the stock setup is capable of it. Just wouldn't beat on it everyday though.
