Does anyone know if a 7 bolt DSM crank is the same as an EVO 8 crank?

I thought they were, and according to the Eagle catalog the 93+ 4g63 cranks are the same. I just want to make sure.

 

So what is the real answer to this question? We have one yes and one no. I'd also like to know though I've been told they were the same.

Never said that, but I've heard from a pretty reputable source that it was the same. Therefore, I was wondering this once again. I know the rods are the same as 7 bolt DSM rods, I was told a 7 bolt crank would work also. I'd just like to get it 100% straight as I'm sure Nash would also.

 

I have a 7bolt evo crank in an early dsm block right now. They are the same.

 

I'm going off part numbers. They differ there, so they are not the same. I'm not saying they aren't interchangeable.

 

I guess I phrased the question wrong. I should of asked if a 7 bolt crank would work in an EVO. I know that the part numbers for the rods are different also but 7 bolt rods will work in an EVO. I'm just going to get a 7 bolt crank and have the machine shop look at them and see if they are interchangeable.

 

The rods arent the same though. I thought the bearings were different. Like the Eagle rods that have to use the DSM bearings. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure. I dont think you have to do anything to the crank to use those rods/bearings. But there is a difference.

Where do you think people get 100mm Mitsu cranks for stroker use? That's right, from other 7 bolt Mitsu motors...

 

i beleive the evo crank is nitrided from the factory, while a regular 7 bolt dsm is not.

both cranks maybe phsically the same, but material is spec & hardening processes are different.

 

The cranks are similar and interchangable, but not exactly the same. From what I can see the DSM crank will fit, but it needs to utilize a 2G DSM thrust bearing as the thrust bearing seat is different on the Evo crank. Dimensionally they're identical.
