As the title says im looking for what OEM fluids i need for the tranny, tcase and rear diff. I looked on Lancershop and they have the DiaQueen gear oil and it seems like its saying to use that for the rear diff and tcase. Is that correct? Also what kind of oem fluid to use in the tranny. I did a search and couldnt find anything on the OEM fluid. If you have part number then id appricate that as well. Thanks for the help in advance.

Diaqueen is correct for the rear diff and transfer case. Run a search for the trans fluid and you will see that most people use BG or Pensoil.

 

Ok. So the stuff they sell on Lancershop is correct for the Tcase and rear diff? Also i was under the impression that there was a kind of fluid that they use from the factory. Thanks for the quick response.

Yes the Diaqueen that Lancershop sells it from Mitsubishi and its what comes in the car's rear diff/TC from the factory. As for trans fluid, that is more of a preference however like someone said, most people choose BG Synchroshift or GM Synchromesh. I have the GM Synchromesh and I like it a lot and Im going to continue using it. You can get it at Autozone for very cheap too.

 

How often do you have to change it though? I drive a fair amount (bout 250 miles a week) and dont want to have to change the trans fluid every time i change the oil. I believe my friend recommended the GM synchromesh.

 

Ok, I suggest the BG then. Its much more expensive but it lasts longer. I dont mind changing my fluid every 10-15k because its cheap and labor to do it is free and I had a lot of free time. Now I have less time but I only drive the car 400-500 miles a month if that.

 

Ok. So the BG will last you 15k? Also is that the BGI or BG II? I dont mind spending 50 dollars on the fluid. My friend will change it out for me for 30 bucks to do the tranny, tcase and rear diff. I just didnt want to have to pay him 30 dollar extra every 2 months or so to change the tranny fluid when i change the oil.

 

No I think the GM Synchromesh only lasts 10-15k, BG lasts more.

 

according to some of the best tranny guys the GM synchromesh should be replaced every 5000miles if you use that, the BG every 15000, the diaqueen in rear and transfer case every 5000 miles to keep the ring and pinions well lubricated, even if you drain it after 5000 miles you will see what shape the fluid is in.

Also it should only take like 30 minutes to change the fluids not to long if you ask me to save $$$$ on replacing broken parts

I think thats pretty severe overkill. The GM Synchromesh is good for 10-12k max and the TC/RD fluid is good for 15k too. Most people who change it at 30k are fine. I did all fluids at 30k now Im doing them every 15k and the fluid looks just fine. I drive my car like a madman and I have 61k on it.
