Could have this been affecting power?

So last night i got home from work and decided to take the airbox out and a couple things and readjust everything to make sure everything was tight.. I noticed that the nipple under the elbow that goes to the turbo wasnt capped off... I capped it off last night and took the car for a couple of runs on my way to work this morning... I did feel the turbo spool a bit quicker and a little more torque....

Was this really affecting me? Its been like this the whole time... Opinions please

If the nipple was part of the turbo-->t/b piping then being a leak it would of course affect things slightly.

Thats where this nipple is yeah?

"nipple under the elbow that goes to the turbo"

Are you talking about the turbo outlet? Either way yes it will make a difference.

Im talking about the rubber elbow from the airbox that goes to the turbo, not the outlet pipe...

if there's any sort of leak after the MAF, yes, it'll affect power.

Yes.. it would allow unmetered air in... I'm not sure how significant the loss would be.. but the answer is yes as stated above.

if that nipple wasn't capped off, or connected to the breather hose like it should be, you were letting in unmetered air. It will make your car run leaner which could actually make you faster depending on your tune

if it's the tiny little nipple used for the stock boost control soleniod return, it's a non issue. That thing is probably only allowing about as much unmetered air into your system as your manual boost control is bleeding off. The two would cancel each other out.
