With enough zip ties the LICP is on there pretty solid.

i'm doing the exact same thing to my AMS setup tomorrow...lol ...

Wow, those zip ties are a riot! Nicely done, but i still like to get an aftermarket licp with both brackets.

Thanks for all the info & comments guys! jmartinez1170 brought up a good point wondering why someone would pay $150.00 for a licp. I'm a little puzzled myself. I wouldn't mind paying good money for one if it meets or exceeds my expections, but so far i've only found one that comes close but not close enough to pay good money for it. I don't mean no disrespect or anything to all of you that are happy with your licp with one or no mounting brackets, but it's hard for me to deny my background in engineering, and come to the conclusion that(in my opinion) these are junk. adding zip ties and stuff is good for some laughs, but I don't think anything should be added after spending good money on a licp. Again, just my opinion. Anyway, i'll more than likely have one made that suits my needs.

Wow, if there is enough interest maybe I can set up a Group Buy on these "High Performance LICP Retention Kits" .

Just a note for those who would like to do this. The strap that goes to the stock LICP mount on the frame (up and down) needs to go straight up and down (not on an angle). This way it will clear the cooling duct on the back side of the bumper.

Very interesting. So the pipe picture above with the tie wraps on it, that is an AMS part?

I could make that piece MUCH cheaper than our current part. I didn't think that's what people wanted though when we did ours.

We do not use the stock 90 degree hose outlet on the stock FMIC, didn't even consider doing that but it is a good idea. That part could be made much cheaper than ours.

We send two new hose couplings, of which is a $35 transition coupling to go from the 2.5" tubing we use to the outlet of the turbo. The other is a 2.5" HD coupling from the stock FMIC to our pipe. Each one of our pipes take about 1 hour to build as they have to be fitted piece by piece, they cannot be bent in one piece by any bender. The part pictured above could be made in one piece, actually our Race and Standard FMIC kits use a lower i/c pipe that looks almost exactly like that one but one solid piece of SS.

Very interesting.

Here is what our lower i/c pipe looks like. As you can see it isn't so easily built.

The Buschur piece looks very nice. I think this pipe is oftened overlooked as a viable solution.

As far as the AMS 2 piece design they have debated it several times why they make it 2 pieces and I still disagree.

Firment in this area of the car is never going to be great. You run into the AC line, the mounts for radiator, the front fascia itself, and of course whatever FMIC you are using hopefully mates up ok with whatever LICP you are using.

I still think the EBAY one is the best deal. As you can see its nearly identical to the AMS one.

Unfortunately AMS's hard work seems to have been copied more than once by the chinese knock off parts you can buy on Ebay.

For some parts I would say there may have been alot of hard work. But for a "u" shaped pipe thats nearly identical to stock I wouldn't lose much sleep over. The chinese kid making LICPs for food could have designed it himself!

David, is there any difference between your Evo 9 and Evo 8 licp? I have run into a small issue since I am running an Evo 9 turbo on my 8 and the licp is rubbing the starter wiring. Part of my solution is to get the Evo 9 dump pipe, but I am curious if the 9 licp is also slightly different.

Yes, he has a separate one for the IX, because the IX compressor outlet pipe is different. The BR IX LICP bolts up to the stock outlet pipe instead of replacing it like it does on the VIII LICP. You are supposed to be using the IX outlet pipe with the IX turbo.

The problem you are having is the use of the EVO8 outlet on an EVO9 turbo, it is too short. You need to get a stock EVO9 outlet pipe.

I appreciate the help, that is what I had gathered and the reason I have an Evo 9 outlet pipe sitting in my garage. I just wanted to make sure I did not need to replace the licp also. It is too bad my friend that sold me his car did not realize this it could have saved me a starter
