Serious Over Boosting Problem

Helped my buddy install his IX turbo into is 03 VIII last night and all seems well. The car is running almost all your basic bolt on's etc. Has a Forge EVO IX WGA and a Forge UNOS MBC. Problem is as follows. With the MBC turned ALL THE WAY DOWN the car hits 31 psi...... its sick how fast it gets there. I double checked the lines from the WGA and the J-pipe nipple and they seem to be on there right. Any suggestions?

are you using a boost controller? Is the turbo new? are there any vaccum leaks going to the wastegate?

Went back out re-checked the line. Swapped them so that the wastegate nipple is going to the side of the UNOS and the J-pipe nipple going to the bottom of the UNOS. Car still hits over 25 psi with the UNOS turned all the way to the (-) ..... WTF!

Check the ajustment of the WGA arm..when they are removed i thought they had to be readjusted, more than likely is not opening all the way.

Yeah, you had it backwards at first. Now, you have a Forge WGA on it...why? That makes it have a minimum boost of 19-24psi and is only to be used when running alky or race gas. You don't use an aftermarket WGA like that when running pump gas. To get it to the minimum of 19psi, you will need to adjust the turnbuckle. You can't just install a stiff WGA like that and expect it to be right where you want it automatically.

The car is gonna run race gas on the weekends. Daily it's driven at 22 psi so thats dead smack in the middle of the 19 -24 range.

how are you logging boost? boost gauge? or are you actually logging it? if the gauge is off it could be off by 1-2 pounds which would put you around the stated 24 lbs

what he's saying is you still have to adjust yours to get that boost down to 22 or whatever you want

The MBC only came with 1 spring. On the previous turbo it was more then half way up and it was at 21 psi. On the new set up its all the way to the (-) and its still over 21 psi. I loosened the WGA to almost as far out as the turn buckle will go.

He's logging boost with his Zeitronix.

Sounds to me like air is getting to actuator but it's not moving since you got max air going to it (all the way -), either binding linkage or ruptured diaghram? Unless boost controller is stuck or backwards but you probably allready checked that

Anyhow that clutch is allright, it's just a pain in the *** trying to go from a dead stop, like up my driveway, it either shakes the whole car or grabs, goes - errt, and jerks my neck

This is incorrect. You can run as low as 15-16psi on an Evo9 Forge WGA with standard preload. It would help if you had experience actually using an Evo9 actuator and IX turbo prior to purging whatever comes to your head into a post.
