Possible Scam

I don't even know how this person got my email address. They attached some pics of a GG evo. Their email is debbie45sam@excite.com. Heads up for anyone else who gets it..

Hi there!

Sorry for the late response; something came up and I had to leave urgently on a business trip. I don't have my cell with me, but I could try calling you if there's any need, but it's best for me to email you from my laptop. I wanted to let you know that the car is still available; I've ended the auction early because I had a buyer offering $11000 but his loan did not get approved.

I am selling the car for $8,550. The Mitsubishi Lancer EVOLUTION MR IX AWD is located in Marion, OH and it looks like new, it has never been scratched or wrecked. It will come with a clear title, bill of sale signed by me as well and all the papers (including the original manuals and keys) that you will need to register it under your name. This is what I`ve got from the divorce settlement, and now I want to sell it because I don't have much use for it and I could use some quick cash right now, rather than waiting for a better offer (selling takes a lot of time too... and time is money). So I'm willing to let it go for $8,550.00 and since I only have one EVO, First come, First served.

Although I am not home, we can still make the deal through ebay. I have a purchase protection program with them, so ebay will guarantee up to $10,000 for any vehicle I sell. Shipping is already paid, as I explained, my buyer changed his mind after I have made the arrangements to ship the car. The trucking company would not refund me but can ship the car to anywhere within continental US, so I've left it at their warehouse and it's ready to ship at anytime. Also, this purchase protection guarantees that the car is exactly as I described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 3 days to inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs.

If you agree with these terms, please email me your ebay username along with your shipping name and address so I can start this process through ebay. As soon as ebay informs me that the money has been received, I will have your car shipped. If you'll send the money by noon, I can even have the car shipped tomorrow and it should get to you in about a week. If you could then release the funds before the inspection period ends, I'd much appreciate it. I'm sure you'll love the car the day you'll get it.

Also, I've attached a few pictures of the car and here is the car's description: Mitsubishi EVO IX, Year: 2006, Miles: 7825, Title: Clear, Exterior: Gray, VIN Number: JA3AH86C56U048798.

Thanks,
Deborah Samuels

well she was in a divorce. my aunt bought a house that was worth well over 2 mil for 800k with 150 acres of land. Some race horse breeder owned it, got into a divorce and needed to sell fast. I guess it's your choice on what you wanna do. From my past experience i'd go for it. I don't know much about ebay's protection plan, but if you don't get the car, you'll get your money refunded right? If that's so, then i'd definitely go for it. good luck.

Wrong. Trading emails outside of Ebay doesn't involve Ebay at all, and there is no protection; you win on Ebay by being a high-bidder for an auction. What will happen if you agree is they will spoof you some fake invoices that are plastered with Ebay protection logos.

Also, there is no real protection involved here. Ebay doesn't escrow your money until you recieve and inspect the vehicle. I'd employ a little common sense in this whole thing... No running Evo MR will go for that price, no one will offer free shipping on it, and Ebay isn't even involved if no auction is presented.

If after all of this you really feel like you want to be sure... write the author back asking for the exact location of the car today. Inform them that your a member of a multi-national car club, and would like to see if one of the members could drop by and check out the condition of the car before you make a decision. He/She will stop writing you at that point, or have an excuse for why the vehice can't be viewed.

Are you nutz?? Don't tell him that!!!

Do NOT buy this car!!!! I tried to buy video cameras for awhile on EBay and kept getting emails like this. Then he says "give me your address, now go to Western Union and send money to me". This is a similar scam.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

I love how eBay continues to allow people to screw other people over as long as they get their small cut.

thanks for the info. O2blur, yeah i wasn't referring specifically to buying off of ebay. I was just relating to the fact that this woman just finshed getting divorced, and is selling the car for cheap. I would definitely do what avatarofwar said. Tell her you are part of this multi-national car club, and ask if someone can take a look at the car. sorry for the confusion guys.
