That said, i also bought a set for stock heat ragne from sparkplugs.com. I thought that they come pre-gapped and ready to install???
So what would be the best plug to get for a ix with a stage 1?

On the sparkplug.com website I found these

http://sparkplugs.com/more_info.asp?AAIA=&pid=8327

They are supposed to be a copper substitute for the stock plugs for the IX. but if you look at the size (reach) they are not the same as stock.

Has anyone found a copper plug for the IX?

Question: Does't the IX Manual says to gap plugs on the IX from .20 to .24 max?

I see some of you are using gaps as hi as .33 - .25!
Is that right?

On sparkplugs.com at the bottom there is a link for advanced tuners. I clicked on that and then I entered in the following data, which I believe to be stock plug dimension. Can some one please verify that this data is correct.

threadSize=14mm
hexSize=5/8 (16mm)
seatType=gasket
reach=26.5mm
resistor=yes

The results are found here
Link

Will all of these plugs fit an evo IX?
Which one would be a copper plug of the stock heat range?

Well after reading all the stuff on NGK's website about spark plugs I think I am starting to figure this stuff out. sparkplugs.com only lists the following copper plugs that have the same dimensions as stock. the 5 or 6 seen here indicates the heat range (stock is 7). These plugs are hotter then stock and not what you want. One range colder than stock would be LFR8

LFR6A-11
LFR5A-11
LFR6C-11

The A or the C seen after the LFR6 indicates the type of tip design. I could not find much more info then (A-C) indicates special tip design, perhaps one is a V groove and another is not.

The -11 indicates the gapping.

ultimately I think I am looking for LFR8A, LFR8B, or LFR8C....I don’t really know which, the gapping they come with does not really matter.

Again these are copper plugs, not iridium like stock. I am looking for a cheap plug that can be used when I start playing around with meth and COP ignition.

ILFR7H - OEM GAPPED AT .024" PLATINUM TIPPED ELECTRODE $11.99
LFR7AIX - SAME DIMENSIONS, GAPPED AT .028" $7.99
This is from Sparkplugs.com, the oem will last longer, but at a 33% price difference. I went with the second ones and will just change them out 10K sooner.

So if stock gap is .024, would it be a good idea to gap them down to .022 when running say 23psi with bpu's and tune?

So I pulled my plugs a few weeks ago and found the previous owner had been using BKR7EIX gapped to .026...but the plugs are 7.5mm shorter than the OEM plugs!! The car was tuned by TTP at 26psi with no knock on those shorter plugs. Then I switched to the OEM plugs gapped at .024 and I started knocking. I am looking at the LFR7AIX plugs but if I was running fine with the shorter ones, I was thinking about just buying those again even though they're shorter but as long as the car runs fine I guess that won't hurt is what I'm thinking. Any opinions?

I got my spark plugs from sparkplugs.com. They were pretty cheap and I gapped them to .22
