Question Bent FMIC fins?

Anyone here have bent FMIC fins as a result of bugs and road grime? Any reasonable and easy solutions?

Not without restricting airflow more.

I owned a DSM with a front mount and had the same problem. What I would do is take a pair of needlenose pliers and very carefully, straighten the fins out - worked great.

This issue is probally the biggest thing holding me back from getting a EVO....

Alot of bugs around here, and I rarely have the time or patience to make a effort to pulling dead bugs out and straightening the fins......

Wish there was some way around this.

Don't let it hold you back, trust me, it's really not a big deal. Spraying the intercooler with a hose takes the bugs off and I only had to correct a few fins the entire time I owned my DSM.

Well, the DSM' SMIC isn't big and it's tucked away in the bumper. But the evo FMIC is huge and the mesh doesn't stop everything that comes. I have alot of bent fins already but that what you get, deal with it.....

My DSM had a very large, custom front mount intercooler

How do you even reach the FMIC with the black mesh screen attached to the front bumper? I can see bugs easily getting in bending the fins, but I dont see how you can easily clean them off and repair bent fins with this mesh in the way....

well i bent the fins and it caused my car to fluctuate in idle between 800 and 1500 rpm. My friend was able to straighten out the fins but the car still idles funny when cold. I was wondering if it was ok if I cut out the mesh?

Bent fins are not going to cause your car to idle funny.

Any mods done to your car?
My car when stock had a very slight stumble in the idle at times. Very minor though.
