There are no clutches specific to the 6spd - EVO clutches work on both cars unless specified otherwise. The only one I know of that doesn't work on the 6spd is the Tilton due to its hydraulic throwout bearing. All other clutches and flywheels should work. I personally have used 4 differenct clutches on my MR, and they all have fit just right:

- Stock (of course)
- ACT HDSS
- Exedy Stg2 4-puck
- Exedy Twin Carbon

Actually, that twin carbon is now on the car with my Shep 5spd, so it never was mated up to the 6spd, but I was given it by Exedy when I still had the 6spd, so there was no question that it would work.

Does Shep feel the 5 spd is stronger and better for racing? Did you change gear ratios at all?

Vehemently so. he was not confident that i would not be sending the 6spd back again after some intense road racing, because no matter what you do to strengthen and cool the 6spd, the 4-6 gears are just too damn small and weak. His 5spds are in the AMS road race cars, and they haven't broken yet. In fact, they send the trannies back to Shep to be checked, and when he takes them apart, he has nothing to fix, so he just freshens them up and sends them back. If the AMS road race cars aren't killing Shep 5spds, then I sure won't be with half the power and less ability to push the car to its limit.

No change to the final drive, but he did put in a IX 5th gear to help on the road course. I'll have a nice long 4th gear for drag racing but also for road racing, yet when I shif to 5th it won't be overdrive.

I absolutely love the Twin Carbon, and yes I do drive it daily. It snatches 1st gear when I launch with no problem at any rpm, yet it's as easy as the stock clutch in terms of engagement and daily driving. My 4-puck was harsh and difficult, but great at the track. This one is smooth and easy with a lighter pedal pressure, yet it holds all the power. I am going to be doing a full write-up like I did with the 4-puck, but I was waiting until I had some chances to race it on the drag strip and road course. We're off-season now, so I won't have a chance until March. I may get lucky with a drag strip rental in 3 weeks. If so, I'll try to beat my own records and provide feedback on how it launches.
