Is your aftermarket BOV recirculated or VTA?

I am hopefully getting a EVO as soon as I graduate (about a month) and have been looking around for parts and what-not. I LOVE the sound of a BOV and have had one VTA in my talon and everyone loved it too. So I was wondering how many people have their aftermarket BOV vented to the atmosphere and how many have them recirculated back into the intake.

Can you please tell me what kind of BOV you have and how its vented and if you have any problems. Also, if you have a sound clip, please post that as well. Thanks!!

I have the Forge Motorsport recirculating BOV. It works very well, looks cool, and doesn't require any tweaking of the AF to fix the problems a vent to atmosphere BOV creates.

According to Forgemotorsport, their BOV (not the recirculating one) does not cause any issues..

I've got one on order and will give my review on it as soon as it comes in next week..

I'm putting in a K&N panel filter and this Forge BOV at the same time... Can't wait!

Also, I am trying to find a review that someone supposedly did on it already.. but am having no luck with this.. does anyone know where this review is?.. My guess is that the review was of the recirculating one though, which I've already read.. but Forge claims that someone (an owner or moderator of evolutionm.net) already has reviewed the venting to atmosphere version..

BOV sound = .. call me a ricer if you want.. but I like it better than the boring whoosh sound of a DV..

I LOVE the sound of a BOV, thats why i want to find a good sounding BOV thats VTA and doesnt effect any performance of the car (ie: idle surge etc.)

Let me know (via PM or email) how the bov works, and try to get some pics, movies and/or sound clips of the BOV.

actually, we'll have it all up on our website (renn-art.com).. we're gonna keep making cool videos of all the parts we sell...

next week i'm also putting on the EVO8 catback that we are going to sell, which is AMS's awesome 3" exhaust (their catback + their tuned safc + their mbc netted a 12.54 @ an awesome 112mph!!.. on a better gripping day i'm sure they couldve gotten a 12.4!).. the downpipe and test pipe is about to be finished as well!..

A friend of mine has already put a Greddy type-S on his evo and re-circulates it back into the intake.. It sounds exactly the same as if it were vented to the atmosphere.. Sounds great, I'm probably gonna get a Pruven one just so it matches the cam cover.. I don't like the gay purple color that it comes in...

I think you're referring to Mark (KK), the owner (administrator) of these forums. He has a Forge VTA BOV installed, though he said he was also getting the Forge recirculating BOV in order to try them both out. I don't remember which thread this was posted in though.

As the E7/8 is not fitted with an airflow sensor there should be no problems with fueling from fitting a VTA type dump valve. There is however the possibility of small volumes of unfiltered air entering the engine through the valve. Some VTA valves are fitted with filters specifically to prevent this.

I ordered the GoFastBits Stealth BOV which vents to both the atmosphere as well as recirculates it. THat way I get the sound but don't have the stalling issues. It is on backorder right now, but should be here in another week or so.

I use the APS valve and it is both recirculating and venting.
