4" Exhaust

Does anyone have one?

Does anyone have a parts list to construct one?

I was thinking of doing this... but I don't know if the benefits would be great enough to put forth the effort into completing a project like this.

So far, as a parts list I could think of right off the top of my head...

3" 2 bolt SS flange
3" 2 bolt gasket
3" - 4" transition
8ft. of 4" piping
2 45 degree 4" bends w/ 6" legs
4" Turbo Muffler
3 exhaust hangers.

If anyone would care to shed an insight onto this... holla at me!

-Chris

There's no need for a 4" exhaust on a tiny displacement motor like this...small turbo's etc.

3" is plenty. Hell, even the stock is pretty good.

4" is unnecessary.

If you want to see it done then look at the gt42r setup from AMS.

People run 4"+ on supras running big turbos. Why would the motor displacement make a difference in our cars?

oh n/m, you think the stock exhaust is sufficient...

supras are dyno queens and you can throw two big turbos on that thing. i think 3" is perfect for our cars. 3.5 is more than enough.

if you really want to do that set up, then go for it. i personally dont think it's worth your time or money...unless you're going to upgrade to a huge turbo

I just love it how people just jump on your back and tell you it's not worth it....morons, if you can't help don't post.

Try talking to AMS or Buschur...they both run big turbos and probly can give you plenty of insight on large exhausts.

In all honesty the turbo provides plenty of back pressure. The stock exhaust is not in its nature efficient... its quiet thats it...

Any back pressure after the turbo decreases its efficiency and thus your horsepower. A perfect setup would be simply a very large open pipe straight to atmosphere... but then these law making officials tell us its bad for the environment etc... etc...

Even with a very aggressive setup you wont see a lot of gains with a 4" exhaust over a 3". Put your money elsewhere like in some nice cams, standard tbe, and a tune.

Ignorant much?

How many evo's have gone 7's? How many standard evo's have gone faster than 8.9? Try again.

my opinion,

2.5" is good to 350 hp

3" is good to 550

3.5 is good to 700

4" is good to 1000

i think i read a supra running 4.5" and making 1400hp

Totally agree. I wouldn't go 4" unless you are running a decently sized turbo (bigger than a 35r)

yea but even with a 3.5" and a 42R is efficient. my friend is running a 3" on a 42R setup and hes making 600 on Race gas. personally, i think 3.5" would be fine for that setup.
