Case Study # 323 - Cam Gear Settings on BR Stage 3
With the advent of my new super high resolution Dyno Dynammics Dyno it was time to spend an hour moving the car gears around to see which gear settings yeidled the most power and best shaped power band
Car was a Buschur Racing Stage 3
HKS 272 / 272 cams
Here is the before and after one hour of cam adjustment
You can see that HKS out of the box are dialed in a very good balance
The adjustment basically just moved the power band up a bit higher in the rev range - taking a awahy a bit of TQ and giving some top end
The cam gears used AEM are nice and have 5 locking bolts - good stuff

This image depicts two back-to-back runs with no change aside from moving a set of HKS 272 cams from -3/-3 (red) to -4/-1 (blue). The difference was noticeable from the driver's seat.
Al my question is...
will the EVO IX with cosworth cams gain anything by playing with the exhaust cam against the mivec timing? for example a +2 or a -2 cam timing on the exhaust cam will it generate more power or not? Have you tried something similar?
P.S. Still waiting for the parts to come... I will call you to do your magic tricks again soon... !!!
