ARP head studs retorque??
Just got my ARP Head studs installed!! And I was just wondering If it's a good idea to recheck torque after a few hundred miles?? THANKS,,
There are many people who say retorque them after they have been heated to operating temp and cooled back down again, as this process may have loosened/stretched them somewhat. Did you replace the headgasket?

If you didn't use a new headgasket, you are already are at high risk for blowing the headgasket. Make sure you check all around the block for leaking oil/coolant. RRE knows what their doing when in comes to the 4G63. If anyone can pull off a head stud install it would be them, but this still is not the proper way to install them. Do not re-tighten the studs. If you notice any leaking around the block or steam in your exhaust, bring it back to them so they can replace the headgasket.

If you set the torque wrench to the initial torque settings, it is extrmely unlikely that you will get the nut to move. If the the tension on the stud has changed slightly, you won't be able to overcome the friction in the threads. So while many people recomend chcking the torque after a few heat cycles, I don't think you'll be able to find anyone that has actually had the nuts to move, if the studs were installed properly (ARP moly lube, threads tapped and broken in, proper technique with the torque wrench, etc). I stopped checking years ago and have yet to have a HG fail without good reason since I started installing the studs the right way every time.

who ever told you that is silly in the brain. i would re trq your ARP studs every time the valve cover is off or at least once a season.
doing the 1X1 method is perfectly fine IF you know what the hell your doing. i have done 50+ sets of them without any issues. people need to learn how to work on a car before doing so.
it is an old thread for sure
