All that launching catch up with you yet?

Not sure if you remember the problems some of the ITR guys were having with the Exedy clutches over at HT. I have no experience with them, so I cannot pass a judgement... just letting you know FWIW.

Oh ****, Exedy clutches have problems?

My stock clutch is still holding up rather well (yes, I'm suprised).

I am using a Excedy clutch. After hundreds of power launches it works like new!. Haven't had any problems so far.

Exedy clutch.

I love my Exedy clutch. Two plus years of vigorous use have left it working as the day I installed it. The guy that recommended it to me has been rallying with his for three years and is still happy.

Exeedy Twin Platers are the industry benchmark. Simply the best clucth you can get for a street car. Though extreme, they allow alot of control, and you can feather it all day and night with no ill effects.

I would love to have one in my WRX.

...the "bad press" on the Exedy clutch comes from the bottom of the line generic offering they have... I'm suprised that Incognito didn't see the bad posts about them on the Type R boards. The parts looked like rebadged auto parts store OE replacements. I've not heard any such things said about the high end peices that people are talking about here.

Just FYI guys - Exedy is the largest OEM supplier of clutches for Japanese cars. Virtually every Japanese car, regardless of cost, comes with an Exedy (aka Daiken) clutch from the factory. What's more, Exedy makes the clutches many other simply rebadge...those "Ralliart" and "STi" clutchs, Cusco, HKS (some) and others...all Exedy units, merely powdercoated other colors.

If anyone needs the Exedy single or twin disk clutch for their Evo, let us know..in stock

Well I finally bought a clutch -
Below is a list of US Distributors for Exedy Clutch. Under each Business is a brief description of my experience with each;

AAA Imports 800-227-1523
If you notice, it’s the same company as Rockland Standard Gear. So when you call AAA, you get Rockland. I called and you have to leave a message and someone will call you back. When they did, they did not show a listing for the EVO7 or in that case any Lancer?

Rockland Standard Gear 800-227-1523
Same as above

Clutches Unlimited 714-373-6155
Spoke to David. The most expensive place I called - $1590 was jobber price and list price was $2866.00 plus shipping. Don’t think I will be calling them back.

World Pac 510-742-8900
Called and they would not sell to me cause I didn’t have an account with them. So I had to call there dealer and they could not find it listed.

Fenwick 410-787-1723
Called and they cant get it!

Clutch Man 800-725-8824
Talked to Sherwood. Very helpful. Had 1 of the best prices $1425.00 including shipping.

Foreign Auto Tech 650-589-3100
Talked to Chase. The 2nd best price $1415.00 plus shipping.

Alcon 317-244-9694
Talked to Brain. They have a twin plate for $900. BUT, that does not include a flywheel.

Carolina Auto Supply 800-438-4070
Last place to call, talked to James $1153.00 plus shipping. Even though the best price, they never call you back. Waited, waited, waited, ended up calling them back after 2 days. Well $1250 shipped. Bought it!

Below are some of the places overseas that I have been trying to get prices from;

IRS Motorsports - Japan 011-03-3696-7960
They have it, dah - $1448.90 shipped.

Japan Parts 011-03-5382-7364
Talked to Gram. Waited 10 days on an email from them with price and availability. To date, I still have not received an email or call.

Co-ordSport
Don’t even ask. There twin plate was $17??. When they said that, I lost count.

I hope this helps everyone out there who has a EVO7 in the states.
Here is some useful info. that I think you might like.

I was trying to keep it simple... there have been many threads about Daiken on the R boards...

I hear ya...but these were all the OEM replacement units from Daiken, no?

Part # is MM022SD

There is also a triple disk unit, but it has unspring hub, so defiantely not streetable (very grabby, lots of chatter) which is MM023SR
