Trouble with methanol injection
This thing has been nothing but problems....My tuner got it installed and made pretty good power. About 350whp with all the bolt ons and Meth. It was boosting about 26psi with no real knock counts. Im on 92 pump gas.
About a week later I had an issue where my meth was activating all the time and it filled up my air box and IC pipes.... We got it fixed, put it back on the dyno to make sure everything was working as it should. All the same settings, 26psi and 50/50 meth/distlilled water. First pull, car starting getting really high knock counts. We lowered the boost down to 19psi and started from there. We basically had to retune the car as everytime we added timing or boost car began to knock. After all was said and done Im down about 30whp and 45lbs of torque. We couldnt push the car saftley above 22psi and real conservative on the timing.
Im thinking bad tank of gas?? Or can it be my methanol evaporated in the 2 week period that it was down leaving me with mostly water? Some factor was not quenching the knock.... Anybody have this problem and how was it resolved?

the 1st tune was on methanol and the 2nd, after the issues, with 50/50?
if both tunes was with the same injectant, check your injection rate, it must have gone down after the 1st tune, resulting in less in-cylinder cooling and octane enhancement resulting in knock.

I was thinking possibly a bad tank of gas... and the I remembered SlowCar used to run 87 octane with his injection unit. I like SlowCar's theory - sounds like something is getting messed up with the injection process. Who makes the meth kit?

The fluid was going down at the same rate as far as we know. We thought about Phantom knock since it was only in one rpm range (about 4200-4500) 2-3 counts of knock. We added a gallon of C16 and the knock went away.......Thats why im thinking it was either a problem with the gas or the meth in the tank somehow evaportated leaving me with mostly water??? Im not sure because I dont know the proporties of meth and how long it lasts without evaporating.
