Perrin Fuel Rail - Review and Install Notes

I just put the Perrin fuel rail in my Evo IX last night, and I wrote up the whole thing in my blog. I included a little bit of detail on why you would do an upgrade like this and added some detail shots of the Perrin and stock rails.

Hope this can be of use to some others on the board.

For any of the more technical here, I'd appreciate any consructive criticism of my explanation of Why.

good write up. Does anybody with this or another aftermarket fuel rail know if you have to pull the rail again to swap out the injectors?

of course you do, your injectors are connected to your fuel rail

does anyone know if upgrading just the fuel rail and keeping the stock injectors would require a retune?

It will.

Interesting timing on your question, BTW. I've been dealing with a high-rev fueling problem, where I wasn't able to get enough fuel into the motor at the upper end of the rev range in order to fatten up the AFRs. Turns out swapping back to a stock rail fixed it.

This really surprises me, as the capacity of the fuel rail actually should have helped. That said, we suspect there may have been some form of cavitation happening as the injectors were required to pulse so fast, most likely a product of the internal shape of the fuel rail chamber. I need to think about it a little more and try to understand what was going on, but then I plan to update my blog and posts with more info.

Just wanted to say that the stock rail is good for 700whp though. Even though that first hole is small, it gets bigger inside of there. I did an aeromotive rail with my setup for aesthetics and so it looked nicer but its not required. I know many people making 500whp+ on the stock rail with 1000cc injectors

dont want to bring this back from the dead but if anyone could give me info. while using this fuel rail replacing stock unit swapping over stock injectors. would this cause you to run rich w/o a tune. also if i use this set up over stock can't i just retune it to work and fix if it is running rich or leaner.

If all you're replacing is the fuel rail and not the injectors or fuel pressure regulator, than you won't have any issue with running lean. That said, unless you plan to tune the ECU and need to put more fuel through the system, why are you replacing the stock rail at all?

I understand the stock fuel fail is good up till 700hp, anybody reached the limits on the stock FPR? or can the stock FPR hold until 35+psi of boost,700whp as well?
