Very weird problem Please help

So ill start with the mods that were on my car before i started to work on it. It had an intake, tbe, and ebc. Yesterday i installed an ebay o2 housing, and an intercooler piping kit. Once i installed those things i took my car out for a test drive and had a very weird problem. I turned my ebc off so i can run wastegate boost and not over boost. I did a 3rd gear pull and hit target boost and around 5000 rpm's the boost starts to rise and keeps going all the way to 24 25 psi then i hit a crazy fuel cut. I have no idea what it could have been, I check the lines for the boost controller and they were conected correctly. But just to make sure it wasnt the ebc i bought new lines and installed the factory boost controller back up. once i installed the stock one it still had the same problems. I switched the lines around and had the same exact problem. I came to the conclusion that it could be the o2 housing blocking the wastegate acculator to full acculate, or i just need to get tuned. ( still on stock tune ) Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What EBC do you have? What boost were you running before the piping kit and O2 install? When you say that you bought new lines, do you mean you bought the Mitsubishi factory vacuum line assembly?

I have an hks evc. I was running 20 psi but when i took it for a test drive i turned the ebc off to run wastegate so i dont over boost. And i just bought some rubber hoses from autozone and replaced it with the other ones

1st: check for leaks, especially in ur ic pipes. evo act weird with even the slightest leak.

2nd: all that extra flow raises up the boost pressure, maybe enough to hit fuel cut. try hooking up the ebc and turning it to its lowest setting. im not real familiar with the hks, but cant you set it at specific psi? if so set at like 15psi and go up till ur happy.

I checked all leaks. Also i turned my ebc off so that means it was on the lowest possible pressure which is wastegate pressure which is 11 or 12 psi.

Did you mess with the adjustment of the wastegate actuator arm?

Ahhh doesn't the waste gate open under pressure from the turbo discharge? I believe the controller limits that pressure to the waste gate until the desired boost is reached, no? Did you try turning on the EVC?

If you just bought the rubber vaccum lines from autozone those will not work correctly due to the lines having a pill in them you would actually need to get them from the mitsu dealer they arent that much i think like 15 bucks but i would do that first to see if thats your problem the part number is floating around on here somewhere.

That would be true if he did this with the factory BCS, but it did it first with the HKS that doesnt require the restrictor pills. No need for a part # its a just a brass farrel pushed into the line. If it overboosted above 5K and reached 25psi there is another problem alltogether. The stock BCS with no restrictor on a factory map will spike 24-25 at peak torque but taper from there. If it did this same overboost even on the stock BCS above 5K, I would say something is wrong with the WG actuator or the O2 housing as you originally pointed out.

My suggestion is route a line from the compressor to the actuator and try running on just WG spring pressure to make sure its working right before you spend alot of time trying to diagnose other possible causes.

I'm not the expert on this but I think you just experienced boost creep. Then your car went into boost cut I imagine. I believe the aftermarket 02 housing does this on some cars. Try a search, you may be able to find some stuff on it...

Yea they do have a boost creep like around 2psi but going from 11psi all the way to 25psi is no boost creep.

right now i cam to the conclusion that the ebay o2 housing is blocking the wga to fully open then that is whats causing me to overboost that much. I have no idea why this is the problem with this o2 housing but i guess its because bushcur racing ports theirs. Im just going to take the whole assembly out AGAIN and see if the wga fully accuates.

Youre gettting boost creep.. You have too much preload on the wga.. Turn the buckle a couple of times and it should take care of it.. It will take you a few times
