eclipsed evolution
well it can be done. but the price tag will go for about half of a new evolution. if not more. got to get all the evo parts 1st you will need. then have everything fabricated to fit. man it may caust as much as an evo now that i think of it.
im going to do it in stages the first stage will be just the basic engine swap keeping the engine ecu completely stock and and upgrad my eclipse drivetrain with these mods
act 2100 clutch
act or fidanza flywheel
quaife lsd
and also upgrading my fuel pump with a walbro 255 lb
im also gonna slap on sum poly urethane engine mounts.

what year evo you doing this with if it is a easy swap and why has it not realy ben done befor?????? i would guess it is because its not worth it. just because 1 or 2 guys did it dont meen its easy. i bet they spent more then i make in 1 year. but to each his own.
FWIW This should be a fairly straightforward swap, however I might recommend doing the "2.4 stroker" that is commonly done using the eclipse block, and using an Evo head, turbo, etc.. This would be the easiest as you should already have a usable short block.. Just remember it needs to be built the right way.
There is already enough room to fit nearly everything else, pick up all stock evo components, intake manifold, FMIC, pipes, etc.. They should only need minor modification and a few components relocated to use them.
Another thing I had read about is the Evo ECU should plug into the Eclipse harness and work to do the job.. Then you can tune with ECUFlash, or knowing the wiring is similar, you can use an AEM EMS (though I would recommend the Evo ECU if you have to do inspections)
Its a shame to miss out on the AWD setup, but getting the engine in there and running is half the battle, I would love to do this swap as FWD, then eventually go back and complete it with an Evo tranny, TC, and rear axle..
Best of luck, It can (and has) been done.. I've been looking for a 2000 eclipse, 4 cyl, black, 5 speed, etc.. Just to do this since I have all the parts laying around to do it.
