Absolutely not. The solid lifter is LESS LIKELY to fail than the stock hydraulic lifter at high RPMs. Just to be safe I would check the clearance on them every 5000-7000 miles (or after 8-10 serious drag passes). If you plan on reving to 10,000 rpms or above, here is what you should do to make your valvetrain survive:

Super stiff double valve springs
Solid lifters
Titantium retainers
Stainless steel valves
kevlar (strengthened) timing belt.

Good luck!

hmmmm... 70% and 10,000rpm with 1000hp doesn't sound like a good street combo. Why is that rpm level and hp figure so important?

The T51KAI or T51SPL will definitely get you closer to your horsepower goal but you really shouldn't expect anything to happen until about 5500~6000rpm. The Tomei 280/11.5 is going to have a horrible idle but it will produce outrageous numbers from midrange to rev limit. For streetability the Jun 272/10.8 will be better than the Tomei high lift cams but your idle will still be ROUGH. You will also have to run more boost with the smaller 272/10.8 cams than with the 280/11.5 cams.

For the horsepower you are seeking you really should look at the GT42R.

Quaife, Ralliart, PPG and a couple more companies make gearsets for the EVO but I think you should sort out your engine combo before spending another $2,000~$10,000 on a gearset or transmission.
