Fuel Pressure Gauge Questions

I have been having trouble tunning my car lately and I suspect that it might be my fuel pump.

I want to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to see if my fuel pump is able to keep up.

I don't want to spend a lot of money because I am only going to use the gauge once to check if my fuel pump works. There are plenty of cheap gauges that go up to 100 psi but all of them have to be installed under the hood.

I don't want to buy an expensive electronic gauge, does anyone know how I can hook up a gauge that goes to 100 psi and I can view inside the car for cheap.

Last question - where exactly do I tap to install the gauge.

Thanks

thanks, but unfortunately those directions are for a carburetor.
I don't plan to have this gauge installed for more than 15 min, do I really need an isolator?

Sorry, I did not open it. Adobe is death to this company computer

Out-of-the-box thinking but have you looked at ls1tech.com - they might have a how-to on there.

Or, and I dont know this - but do mech. shops have a gauge or way to test this? Might not hurt to drive over to you fav. local mech and ask if they have something that can do the trick. I know from my brothers z28, they had a logger that reads everything (knock, timing, pressures..).

Depending on how the fuel rail is set up, I don't know and I am not getting up to go look right now, you should be able to buy an NPNT (not sure if that is right) connector with a connection for the FPG sender. It is a relatively easy install. If you look on ls1tech you are going to get info about a rail with a schrader valve. I am pretty sure that the evo lacks a schrader valve so that will not work. You can also make a T for the FPG sender out of brass fittings although it is going to be pretty ugly if you do it that way...

isn't the FPR connected right to the fuel rail and as a result there is nothing between them to tap into?

Also as far as the mechanic being able to read it, I already have EvoScan and there is no parameter for fuel pressure that you can read without another gauge.

If the FPR is connected right to the rail, ie screw on, you can use the NPNT connection for a sender in between them. If you need to find the connection look at some online nitrous shops and you should be able to find one that will work.
