OBX or Samco silicon intake hose?

Anyone running one of these? Any ill affects? Any noticable spool differences? Any but dyno difference? My biggest concern. Any BOV blowback issues that mess with idle?

There were a few posts with pictures a while back with people that bought OBX silicone intercooler hoses that ripped open due to the boost pressure. The intake however is not subjected to that kind of pressure but because of those posts I am staying away from OBX silicone anything.

I had a bad experience with Samco Silicon intake hose two years ago. This was with my SRT4. I had bought one of their Silicon charge pipes that comes off the cold side of the FMIC and onto the TB.

Well one day I was driving and under load (18-20psi) the pipe litterly exploded. Fortuntly I was close to home and made it back home without any far worse problems accuring. I took the Samco chargepipe off and emailed Samco directly with a description of how the inncodent accured and almost 50 different picture angles. Also showed a receipt proving the pipe was purchased from an authorized dealer less then a week before this happening.

Needless to say, I had to fight like hell with them to resolve the issue. After approx 4 weeks I got a new chargepipe in the mail with a letter of apology. The letter also included that there was a production flaw in those pipes and apparently mine was one of them. Since I felt I wasnt treated well at the get go four weeks earlier when the inncodent happened. I ended up putting the charge pipe on ebay and just ran the stock charge pipe.

If I were you, I would just pickup a hard pipe and never have a worry. Plus if the silicon intake hose miraciously fails, there will be shards of silicon going into your turbo/engine.

Just some food for thought.

Hope it helps in your decision making.

The only silicon parts in my turbo -> intake manifold tract are couplings. Those hoses can't stand the repeated pressure as well as a steel pipe.

Thanks, thats all I really needed to know. I wouldn't be worried about it exploding, its not subject to boost.

I've been using the Samco for 8 months now and I'm very happy with it.

Sounds cool too.

for those who uses the Samco, would any of you have a picture of it installed? i'm in the market for a new intake piping and i've considered the Samco as one of my option. i bought a used set of injen intercooler pipings and wanted to know if there are any fitting problems.
