Oil Light flashing WTF??!!!

Ok for some reason my Oil Light is flashing some at idle.
Anyone has any idea why the hell is this happening?

The only change I did was change head gasket and add ARP
I regularly use 20w50 oil but when I changed the gasket I added 10w30 (Mobil 1 stock) until this next weekend. Race weekend = new fluids for my car and new oil change with 20w50.

So, maybe I burned my oil this past friday after 6 drag passes on 10w30? Or something went wrong when my head gasket was removed? Its only at idle and its not constant, its really weird.

Thanks for any info

Did you check the oil. You didn't mention that in your post. Also it could be the oil pump. The oil light usually comes on when theres low oil pressure so it could be low on oil or a failing oil pump.

Oil was ok and clear, a suggestion of a friend is that with the turbo (50 trim) and with the heat here and 3 consecutive passes that I might have burned down the oil. Dunno, I just did one heck of a pass to 120 mph at the street with the car and @ idle it flashed like 2 times only, I stopped the car, let it cool down in idle and no more flashing. I think yes its probably the oil, the oil pump if its failing its supposed to make the lifters sounds like hell because they get no oil.

Dunno, more input is well appreciated.

Check the oil sending unit switch wire might be loose.

Just to throw this out there, but i am sure you would know this if this was the problem. If the heastuds are not torqued to spec and properly you can leak alot of oil from where the block meets the head. You may want to look around your block for any leaks.

Same here..

Mines doing the same. It comes and goes. Let me know if it that works. Not sure what it might be. I mean it runs smooth, no noise at all. Just once in a while when the oil gets hot with the oil temp gauge the light flickers on and then dissipates. Let me know what you try..Thanks.

Ok when I find a solution for this I will let you know.

Did you removed your head? Just a question because this started happening after changing head gasket & installing head bolts, no idea, sounds extremely weird but I will get to the bottom of this.

EVO's run really low oil press at idle when warm specs say 5-7 psi at idle so check the grade of oil you use and see if the oil is due for changing because the older it is the thinner it gets and the lower the press.
I think the press switch is set to turn on at 4.5 psi
