act clutch and prolight flywheel installed

i got the act MB7- HDSS with the prolight flywheel in my IX yesterday and all i can say is FANTASTIC. I,m still breaking it in (2-300 miles according to act). The clutch pedal is only slightely stiffer than stock but feels much better. The clutch engages smooth as stock and grabs about half way up. I was told the prolight might be too light for smooth street use by a couple of members, but they are wrong. The whole set up feels great. On a hill it engages smooth as can be with zero chatter or any other issues. There is absolutely no noise coming from anywhere. I cant wait untill its broken in to give it a launch and see how it feels even though i know already from other people using it and buy what i,m feeling now. I,m looking forward to lots of spirited street miles from this clutch as members told me they have gotten between 20 - 50k miles on theres. Even the 20k would be fine for me. The flywheel is 10.1 lbs. which is perfect(not to light) for everyday driving. I cant say enough about how happy i am with this clutch and flywheel. The car shifts smooth as glass as it did before.I refilled the trans with BG11 (samething i had in there before, made sure the ACD was bled, and didnt even have to adjust the clutch pedal. Anyone thinking about a clutch change that doesnt want to go for a twin disc this is the clutch and flywheel to get. Thanks to Chris at nolimitmotors for a great price, fast delivery (2 days) and for talking me in to using the prolight flywheel.

nice review
keep us updated after your break-in period

i was thinking about going with act, but i am a little wary about it being a single disk and the stress it might put on the other parts.

The problem with the prolight isn't so much driving.. Its launching. You'll have to clutch the car more than normal. And you have to clutch it more than normal driving also just maybe you dont notice it.

i,ll let you know about the launch once its broken in. As of now it feels perfect.I dont have to slip ( or clutch it as you say)any more than the stock clutch to get moving smoothly.

You will more than likley have to adjust the clutch once you break it in and take it up to redline a couple of times. i did. After i adjusted mine it engauges more towards the top of the pedal, which i like, means for quick shifting. Just make sure after you adjust it that you still have the proper amount of clutch pedal free play in the pedal which is supposed to be .3 - .5 Am i right on this ACTman???

scott you are right on the money as far as free play. 3-5 mm at the top. Got that straight from mitsubishi.

its broken in and i love it.Stock like driveability, much better feeling pedal, not a sound coming from it like the twin disc. I,ve done one launch off the stock 2 step and it launched like a rocket with not a hint of clutch stink. The prolight flywheel does not hamper any driving style as some members said it might because of it being to light. But it weighs 10.1 lbs. which is definetly not to light. When i say stock like driveability i mean in the smoothness and quiet operation of it. It does grab a little quicker than a stocker with the res. pill removed but i didnt have to get use to that as i always give a drop of slip when i get moving from a stop. Thats the way your suppose to drive our cars anyway. But all in all its a great clutch and if it gives me 20k miles of spirited daily driving i,ll be happy as a pig in ****.

Word. Launching is a pain in the *** with that lightweight flywheel. Just using the 2-step on my Dynoflash tune the car still bogs on the launch, not good for the xmas tree. I personally think it has to do with the loss of energy due to the lighter weight. If I rev the engine up and launch as the revs come up results are much better, just difficult to do at the drag strip.

All in all I am very happy with both products posted about, it's the same combo I have now. About 7K miles and countless launches, never smells and shifts well.
