high pitched sound

high pitched sound

hi all, have the brand new evo IX and was just wondering if this high pitched sound im hearing is normal or not.. i mean its new and all but i hear this high pitched sound when the car is on and whenever the car is on so @ idle and while driving.. its very faint but still sumwhat noticable..
i notice its by the rear wheels, sound dosent really change as i rev or anything any ideas?!

if its a high pitched whine, thats the turbo. my car stock had the same noise. no worries.

yea its stock.. turbo?.. its coming from the back tho lol and not the radio its from the outside

Yeah, wait till you instal the walbro

The FP noise will be hheard at two pitches (high or lower) the higher one is the more audible. The conditions that cause it to operate in those modes depends on many factores , even your gas cap, so you will hear it sometimes and not hear it sometimes.

But, one thing for sure, and to ID if it is the FP, is that as sone as you start the ignition, the FP will operate in high for at least 1 sec (mine does it for 5 sec but used to do it for 2 min)

You can remove your rearseat cushion (2 tabs and lift) to see if that is it, still not sure then remove the 4 screws and plate and you willknow 4 sure if that is the FP making the noise

as said before, you're hearing the fuel pump. it's located under the drivers side rear seat and it's fairly noisy. Even louder if you have an aftermarket (walbro)
