help my exhaust is so loud !!!

ok i have a helix down pipe helix cat and an espiler cat back. and its so loud i hate it. even it idel its loud as hell.
so today i got rid of the high flow cat and got this in place of the cat
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAGNA...QQcmdZViewItem

and it did not help at all. the car sounds 100% the same. what happened? is it because i had a cat before and i installed a muffler/resonator so they cancled out each other. i really want the car to be quieter.

should i weld a 6" round muffler where the cat was will that help
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAGNA...QQcmdZViewItem

on my integra i'm making 500whp with a full 3" exhaust with no resanators and its super quite. thats because i'm running a huge magna flow oval 5x11 muffler with a 22" body
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-O-O...QQcmdZViewItem

i know theres no way i can fit a muffler that big on the evo so waht else are my options

get rid of the 4" round body resonator and put a round 6" body muffler where the cat is supose to be???

or weld another resonator in the cat back ( i really dont want to cut up the espiler cat back)

or cut up the cat back and try to fit a huge magnaflow oval muffler on the back. ( i really dont think they is room for large oval mufflers on the evo)

it's the 18'' magnaflow u want.

if u still have the stock cat leave that alone. otherwise get a resonated high flow cat or resonated test pipe....

u could put a resonator on the midpipe on the catback to quiet it down a lot too.

keep in mind u have to get a non-reduced resonator, meaning a full 3'' resonator that's perforated around the pipes....only downside is resonators will add weight, but considering they're at the bottom of the car it wont mess up the handling too bad...but added weight is always a bad thing when u're looking for best power/weight ratio.

good luck. i have a resonated tp with a 3'' resonator on my catback, swapping my 14'' magnaflow muffler for an 18'' in 2 days...yes i want my car quiet, esp. on the highway. and living in california doesn't help either.

i had a helix high flow cat and just got rid of the cat for a magnaflow 14" body 3" resonator and it did not help at all. the car is still super loud. so i'm thinking about geting another muffler now

what kind of oval magnaflow 18" muffler are u geting (5x8, 4x9 or 5x11) and i would like to know if theres room to fit a muffler that big.

most evos run stuppid round mufflers with tiny 14 inch bodies and they are always loud as hell. i really want a quite exhaust like my intera but theres no way i'll be able to fit a oval 5x11 22" body muffler in the back of the evo

try 7" diameter round magnaflow muffler, I believe its 3" in/out and 18" lenght. I got a quote for 50 shipped or so. I think it's the same one Buschur uses on their catback. And they're quieter from what I've heard personally. GL.

i have the magnaflow muffler which comes stock on the BR350 and it is nice and quiet..But i also have the stock cat. I have heard this set up on another IX (not a BR) with a hfc and it was still nice and quiet.

i just got the 18'' put on, and with a straight pipe it's still just as quiet as stock, with a lower exhaust note...i will find out the exact dimensions of the muffler if u want me to...PM me.

the 18'' already required a pretty sharp bend in the pipe to get it hooked up to the mid pipe, so i dont know if the 24'' would work while still keeping the mandrel bends.

I think you're referring to the basic Bushur exhaust with the Magnaflow muffler. I'm running this now and it's got a good volume level to it. Loud enough where you know it's modded, and good strong sound under WOT, but ya can still talk at cruising speeds.
I had the bullet muffler (axleback difference) before and you couldn't talk while running on the interstate! I had to slow down to use my cellphone even.

The Helix is pretty loud too. I know of a lot of Subie's that run it catless and it's super loud on those boxers!

Hope this helps.
