Notchy Clutch Pedal Release Stroke
Later models are fitted with longer release bearing guide on the gearbox, together with
a modified bearing carrier, to prevent misalignment of the bearing during full stroke
of the release mechanism.
A symptom of misalignment is a notchy/jerky pedal release action, due to excessive
fretting between the release bearing front face and the clutch cover diaphragm spring.

It is not air in the system since it was never removed from the car and would have no way to get air in it...
