carbon tripple question
i have had a tilton in my car for about 17k miles and over 120 launches. I am overall very happy with the clutch. I will warn you it is noisy, but if you don't mind the noise it has been a good clutch for me. But on the same note here are the issues that exist with the clutch. http://club-evo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229

My son's car has the Excedy twin-cerametallic HD and it's working flawlessly for street driving. He complains a little about the pressure, but he only weighs 115-120 . I've chosen the Tilton carbon-carbon for mine, but it will be race only. Buschur recommended and did the install on the Excedy twin HD.
What torque are you expecting? Clutch capacity is based moreso on TQ than HP. For example, a GT35 making 500HP will be easier on the clutch than a 50trim @ 500HP because the 50 trim will make a lot more TQ. . .
The HD will easily handle 500ft# of TQ all day long . . .

We only sell one of the Exedy twin discs anymore. It has proven to be the best one they sell and is all we carry sell. The twin HD cerametalic.
As for a triple disc, the Exedy triple cerametalic is very mean but tought to modulate if you drive easy and is very very grabby when launching.
The Exedy triple carbon has proven to be excellent. Very smooth, holds the power, just have to get a little heat in it.
The best clutch I have run is the Tilton carbon/carbon. I am running it in my daily driver RS. Is it pricey? Yep. Is it light? Yep. Is it what I spent my personal money on for my car? Yep. Is it loud as hell? Yep. Has it failed? Nope. The price has just gone up on them again, well actually, all of the clutch prices have just had an increase, Exedy and Tilton.
If you have a 400 whp (our dyno) EVO and want a reasonably price clutch (not really possible, they are all expensive) that will last, go with the Exedy Twin HD cerametalic.
If you have a car making 500+ (our dyno) or if you have a car that is making 400+ and drag race alot, you better look at either the Exedy triple or the Tilton carbon/carbon. Those are both over $3500.
I remember a time when I thought a great used car cost less than a clutch does now. It's pretty retarded.

9sec9, well if you are double retarded, the clutches I bought just last year makes me 5 times as you are retarded
haha
Between my car, the Time Attack car and the drag car, I am sure we used up 10 clutches in just this season.

i have a exedy triple carbon w/HD pressure plate and its amazing....flat shifts at 9800rpms are no problem with my stock tranny.... but as David B. said it does need some heat and a few extra wave springs ...haha.
The ATS, hmm.....one of the not so user friendly clutches. I don't like the conversion to push style. I don't like the pedal pressure. I don't like how it shifts. Just my opinion.
I didn't say anything about an Exedy needing extra wave springs.

I meant about the heat end of it. The wave springs....most people know that trick.
