Exedy triple carbon vs. tilton twin carbon

Im in need of a new clutch. I can no longer push in my clutch, Ive been told that the retaining clip has popped off. But anyways, which clutch is going to be the better choice. I think that both ams and buschur use the exedy tripple in thier race cars. I read that db changed over to the tilton on his rs since it is 20lbs lighter than the exedy, but a lighter clutch setup isnt always the best thing for launching a car. So who knows? The car will spend most of its time drag racing.

And on a side note the tilton goes for 3900 and the exedy for 3400.

Tilton

-push style
-cheeper to rebuild
-Lighter and smaller disc so it shfts faster

Only real con is it is a 7.5in setup so the life span will be about 1/2 of a 9in setup but thats why you get two plates with the tilton so it will have the same life just have to pull the tranny sooner.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the Exedy's carbon plates ride on steel as I know for sure that the tilton disc's are sandwiched between carbon "floaters",hence the true carbon on carbon.

I know the Tilton is true carbon carbon. Not totlay sure on the Exedy. Never really even looked at the Exedy due to the fact that its a pull style and Curt Brown poped the clips 3 times.

Thanks for the replies. Is there anything that you can modify so the clips cant pop off? Id hate to do the clutch swap and have that happen again.

Yes,use 3 wavy washers under retainer clip instead of 1 and be very Careful when installing trans so that the input shaft does not come in contact with retainer clip. There are no promises that it will not fall off but this greatly reduces the chances of this happening.

How does the Cabonetics Twin and Triple Plate Clutch compare? Also off topic but what is the difference between push and pull style clutches?

They are both good. I personally went with the Exedy HD, and am very happy with it. I also have a friend that has a tilton. Very happy with it also. So I guess you really can't go wrong with either selections. But that didn't help answer your question thought huh.

Which one do you have? If I remember correctly you have a cerametallic. The Carbon is a complete different animal and behaves very different. It is a pleasure to drive. The Cerametallic Tilton is definately not for everybody though.

The cerametalic is like an on and off switch. Its a nice excuse to not let other people drive your car though

I purchased a Carbonetics(push type) due to this same issue happening on quite a few cars...
