Pull Type: The throw out/release bearing is pulled toward the transmission and is attached to the pressure plate.
Push Type: The throw/release bearing is pushed in toward the crank shaft and not attached to the pressure plate cover.
And more on page 5 of the pdf, although some of it is self serving: http://www.exedyusa.com/multimedia/s...ndamentals.pdf

Let me start off by saying it's your money and you can do what you please with it, but you can get a much cheaper clutch that works just as well to hold your power levels. Why spend over 3k for a clutch? These are outstanding clutches, dont get me wrong.....but the cheaper clutches will hold your power levels just as good.
These expensive clutches do have better pedal feel/engagement, but is it actually worth it? I'm speaking from years of experience, a properly matched clutch/pressure plate from someone like ACT will do just FINE. Albeit, the pedal will be hard as hell to push in and will not play very nice with traffic.....but i will always take this option for pennies on the dollor compared to these extremly high priced cluthes. You could spend that money elsewhere.
Again, i have used many many cluthes in several different high powered cars. I have also used some very high end elaborate cluthes, and i always ended back with the standard ACT set-up. After trying all these, I opted for the ACT set-up(4puck unsprung/extreme pressure plate/prolite 8lb flywheel) on my 648whp RSX and it's taken unbelievable abuse! When it's time to change out the stock cluth in my EVO, you can believe that i will be using a ACT set-up(including pro-lite flywheel) on this as well.
But again, it's your money.

+1... I am using 4 wavys per Exedy Techline. I was told the older clutchs used 1 and the updated clips have 2 wavys. I had 2 from my old clutch and the guy told me to use the other 2 and I will be golden... so far so goodOriginally Posted by turboDan
Yes,use 3 wavy washers under retainer clip instead of 1 and be very Careful when installing trans so that the input shaft does not come in contact with retainer clip. There are no promises that it will not fall off but this greatly reduces the chances of this happening.
And I had to pull my trans a second time cause the input hit the ring

You can't compare a high powered FWD car to a high powered AWD car. On the other hand there have been some mid 10 second passes on act so it can definately happen.Originally Posted by iTune

what you must understand is that I wasn't comparing the two. I was simply stating(which you concured) that there are much cheaper options out there. and that these options will work just fine wen using the correctly matched clutch/pressureplate/flywheel for the duty at hand.Originally Posted by Geo@EvoStore
