* best cams to put on EVO IX?*

i want to trade in my 05 STI for an EVO 9. I've been reading the forums trying to figure out which cams i want to put for the most power. I'm thinking about the GSC 280's...but which one do you guys suggest that would give me the most power with just TBE, intake, MBC and reflash?

The new GSC S1 cams or Cosworth seem to be the best way to go for the IX, judging by some recent tests.

This should probly be in engine/turbo/drivetrain but, here goes, the only sets of cams for the IX are Cosworth, GSC, and Kelford. Kelford makes GSC's cams to their specs, Kelford has 3 sets available. Cosworth has 272's, and GSC has their new S1's, and soon will have S2's and S3's as well. Most of the cams will not require you to change your valve springs or retainers, if you stay at the factory rev limit. Id just change em out while your in there though. For your mods, they're all going to be pretty similar power wise except for Kelford's 280/284's, but those are going to be way too agressive for what you have planned. Id go with GSC just for their customer service, and they have more experience with the 4g63 than Cosworth does. You could try Kelford, but there's not much info about them, so your kinda on our own there. FWIW I plan on using Kelford's cams.

These are the only sets as of right now, however you could use any exhaust cams from an Evo VIII, as they are interchangable. If you want an intake cam as well, you have the above mentioned options.

For dyno charts, search, there should be quite a bit of info available.

GSC S1's. I'm not just saying this because of dyno results. I've ridden in the GSC Test Mule and it has nasty pulling power but still idles like stock.

Not sure I follow ya here. HKS cams for the VIII cost about 1/2 of what JUN does...

And Kelford and Cosworth are some pretty darn strong names.

Frenchy4g63 said it about perfect.
As for putting in an exhaust cam only, I'd advise against it. I read reports of people that did this - with all their other stg 1/2 mods. Then later removed the exhaust cam and gained torque.
Something about a loss of torque with only an exhaust cam in a IX. Maybe just a few reports...
