Breaking in an ACT clutch

I've just had my act clutch installed and i notice that in the mornings the clutch has trouble engaging. After I initially push the clutch down to start the car, I have to push the clutch several times in order to get it in gear if i place the car in neutral after I've turned on the engine. Once the car starts moving, there are no problems what so ever. I never had this problem with my stock clutch. Is this just a part of the breakin period or perhaps the cold weather? Its really weird....

the cold makes clutch engagement more difficult because the fluids or more cold...is it better once the car is at operating temperature?

if it is then it's no big deal

the clutch is stiffer so it might be a combination of things that make it seem different...I have an ACT clutch gives me a little trouble initially but once everything is warmed up and the fluids are flowing it's perfect

I'm using a resurfaced stock flywheel cause i didn't wanna spend 250 on a new one and the stock one is light enough. I've also noticed that my clutch doesn't shift as well as it used too....does shifter bushings, and a new clutchline help?

adding a ss clutchline and removal of the restrictor pill will give you a quicker / more forceful clutch engagement

the shifter bushings will add a more notchy shift point feel

how many miles on the act?

i thought the break in period for the act was 500 miles

are you having any lock-out issues when shifting above 7k ?

I have about 700 miles on my ACT MB7-HDSS with the prolight flywheel. I dont experience any issues at all with it cold or hot. I was told after the break in i would probably have to adjust the pedal, but it is as perfect as the day it went in. I love this clutch and flywheel 100x more than the exedy twin i had in my 03 8. The driveability is stock like only much better in feel and engagement. There isnt a sound coming from it at anytime, especially that decel noise you get with the twin disc.I know they are different clutches so dont flame me on comparing apples and oranges. I have zero lockout in every gear at any rpm and it launches like a rocket. Some members told me before i ordered the clutch while i was still researching which one to buy that the prolight would be to light and it would make it harder to launch.Well guys you were wrong. The prolight weighs 10.1 lbs. and that is definetly not to light. I,ve always had my res. pill removed (first thing i did when i bought the car) and a ss line put in.So between that and this clutch and flywheel i am extremely happy with this set-up for daily driving(spirited). I have only done one launch off the stock two step (5k) and it was a perfect, smooth launch without a trace of burnt smell. I said in the beginning of the post i have no issues cold or hot but obviously once its warmed up it feels better than with it cold. The other night it was 27 degrees and the car was sitting all night but i had to get going in a hurry(no warm up). I started the car and let it run for 30 seconds and took off down the road nice and ez keeping it out of boost until the temp gauge started to come up. I double clutched with a little blip up shifting thru the gears so as not to have to force it because of the cold.Buy doing this every shift was as smooth as glass and the temp was up in two minutes of driving. When i got to my first stop which is only 3 minutes down the road the clutch was performing like it was driving for an hour already.BGII in the trans.,stock diaqueen in the t/c and diffs. For the power i,m making (350-355) this clutch and flywheel are perfect. If i get a descent amount of miles out of it,which i hear from other members who have had this clutch for 20-35k miles with lots of launches,I would never even consider another clutch.

When you push the pedal down you are disengaging the clutch. Sounds like there may be air in the line and it will need to be bled some more.
