Quote: i use it, n i love it, but the reason most ppl dont use it is because if you keep it vta, it knocks off your maf sensor n messes up the air flow readings, making your car think its gettnig less air then it actually is (I believe?) there for causing your car to sputter under partial throttle. also when sitting at a light it can cause your car to sputter n sometimes the rpms drop down below where tehy should b, sometimes causing the car to stall

all u need to do is recirc it, with the recirc kit and ull b good to run lots of boost
Is there a "kit" out there? Or do you kinda have to make it yourself? I've never found one.

I use it and was told by my tuner to get it back into the intake. It also causes the car to stumble and shut off when I come to a complete stop. It holds boost great though, I see plenty of high powered supras use them.

I dont know the noobs but most of us, know how stuff works on our cars. And 2005's dont have problems with VTA as far as Im concerned and many of us here in PR who only VTA.

Its not possible for it to work right when you VTA.. You may not perceive any issue, but its NOT working right..

Would you pay for 5 gallons of gas if 2 were leaking out before it got into the tank? I don't think so..

I had one on my car VTA and it was working fine ,but after riding in a friends modded Evo I started to notice the differences and the biggest is part throttle I switched back to stock andam much happier with the drivability.

here's the thing that i dont understand, maybe someone can clear up...

if less air is coming into the intake, cant i just tune for it.... i understand a car not tuned for it having problems, many parts with no tuning will have problems

thanks guys!

Having read a few threads about this previously, I think most people's arguments/opinions against it is that it's bling that hurts performance, if you bought an Evo then you must like power, so why pay money to lose performance, etc, etc.

I'm going to guess no, because it isn't predictable. It only happens when the valve vents. There's nothing directly monitoring when the valve opens, right?

even recirculating the HKS it caused part throttle surge and had a negative impact on driveability, it was horrible, sold it in a week. i use a greddy type s recirced and it drives smooth as silk now.

why is there SUCH a need for people's evos to make sounds?

If your gonna do then recir it, but if the sound is really that important to you then get the JDM MR DV. Its good for around 30 psi which is more than your gonna use on the stock turbo. Also that with an Intake will give you the nice "whoosh" noise you want while reciring. Just make sure you get tuned for the intake. Honestly you'll probably pay a lil more a get a good deal more power if you follow this route: Get the MR DV (bought mine for 60 bucks used off a member here), get an intake from buschur, and then get a tactrix cable and tune. All of that should cost you around 400 maybe a little bit more and it'll be better for the car and you'll get the sound you want. I just did this cause i picked up the DV and Apex'i intake for cheap not expecting to get any "cool" sounds, but i did. Hope it helps.

Funny thing is I had the exact opposite experience with the stock MR BOV vs the HKS recirc'd and VTA. I tested the SSQV in VTA and didnt notice stalling, bucking, hesitation, or many of the other symptoms that everyone else has reported. Maybe its cause IX's are a bit different.

Jack is right though, you spent the thermal load in the intercooler cooling the charge that you spent mechanical energy compressing and now you are going to let it go?

Do I like the sound of a VTA app? I cant go on enough about how it sounds, but I like the fact that the air volume that took time to get where it is is still in the system and not wandering around under my hood.

first off i wanna say the jdm mr dv comes stock on the ix... 2nd i wanna say it will hold 24/25 psi... maaaaaaybe 26, but i doubt it

the hks is fine, like i thought ya just have to have the profer setup to run it.. like how ya cant run big turbo on stock fuel pump... ya can but its not going to be good.... the vta is the same if ya get speed density or a stand alone with support

cheers!
