very much so the case, VIII have the 9.8 hotside turbo? and the IX has the 10.5 hotside. this coupled with the Mivec are the most significant differences. someone else add the other reasons why, since i don't know any more.

yes you can hit 300 hp but I would recomend a set of cams and maybe a o2 housing to put you comfortably over the 300 mark

sorry for the noobish question...but when you guys say cams...do you mean the cam gears or the camshafts? i'm gonna guess it's the camshafts since the gears are only used to adjust timing correct?

Ugh, no, the 10.5 hotside came on the 05 VIIIs. The IX turbo is better, because it has a larger compressor housing. The MIVEC does not make more peak power, but it does help with area under the curve and spoolup. The other main difference is the revised coolant passages in the head that allow for more timing and boost without knock.

Evleb, can you restate your question more clearly? Please proofread before hitting "submit."

Reggie, of course "cams" stands for camshafts. That's what "cams" always means. Cam gears are cam gears, and they don't add power.

Yasir, uh no, an FMIC won't give near the gains of a set of cams.

Riceball, your numbers are low. 300whp is easy to attain on stg1 mods without cams. 310 with cams is quite low, but it's partially because you have to use 91oct.

Jun 264s? Wow, those are extremely aggressive and are meant to be used with big turbos and a standalone ECU? I see you have a Power FC, so that should work.

^^ You don't need a good manifold to get to 300whp.
Stock manifold goes along way for power needs.
