Another Alcohol backfire!

Well, got used to the slow run through the gears on low boost while having my alcohol pump re-built, and after re-installing the alcohol pump and turning up the boost I managed to hit the rev limiter (since it comes up so damn fast on 29 psi) and had another alcohol backfire in my intake manifold. This time the intake manifold held together, but the throttle plate bent like it was made of tinfoil! The data log from that event shows a pressure spike that maxed out my 5 BAR map sensor (maxes at 60 psi).

I will be taking Friday off from work to pull it out and flatten out the throttle plate in an attempt at a "temperary" repair and then at the end of the month when I go to Buschur racing for my conversion over to E-85 I will get a new throttle plate since this one will have been weakened by the bending.

Later,

Keith

PS: See why I am switching to E-85 over the Methanol injection?

Video?

Sorry to hear man, this is the second time this has happened recently correct?

Are you sure there's not something else causing this?

It is caused by inefficient atomization of the alcohol, which is puddling in the intake manifold.

Repositioning the injector may be the answer.

If you hit a fuel cut rev limiter with to much meth it will let you go lean on it. You are lucky the rods did not pop out of the motor. That is what happens to me when I was learning the hard way about meth back in the day.

If you get a MSD revlimiter or standaone you should be fine. I have also seen a rod bend on a 2 step at the line with the meth on and since the factory 2 step cuts fuel.

E85 is much simpler and safer does not have the preignition properties that methonal has.
