can the stock wastgate be "preloaded" to hold more boost? I am running meth and the 20G-LT turbo, boosting to about 29PSI and tapering very bad. What are the pro's and con's of getting a better wastgate?

Yes, it can, but to a very limited amount.

You're still limited to a stock actuator spring pressure of around 12-14 PSI, whereas our actuators come with a much higher base setting, but we also have customizable spring rates available too.

Get an RPM based boost controller and you can dial the taper out some. You should be able to dial out some if not all of the taper. Probably wont hold 29 psi to 8k without an upgraded actuator though.

I know of several. Apexi AVC-R, Greddy E-01, HKS EVC 6. There are several others as well also.

We were able to hold 28 psi to 7700 RPM on a Evo 9 WR turbo with an HKS EVC 6.

I sell a supplemental, highly detailed 5 page setup manual for the Evc 6. It goes into detail on the somewhat complicated initial setup, as well as specifics to get rid of the taper on stock turbo Evos.

PM sent.
